佛說大魚事經

東晉天竺三藏竺曇無蘭譯

聞如是：

一時婆伽婆在舍衛城，祇樹給孤獨園。

爾時世尊，告諸比丘：「往昔時，有一水，饒諸大魚。

「爾時大魚敕小魚曰：『汝等莫離此間往他處所，備為惡人所得。』

「爾時小魚，不從大魚教，便往至他處所。

「爾時魚師，以飯網羅線捕諸魚，諸小魚見，便趣大魚處所。

「爾時大魚見小魚來，便問小魚曰：『汝等莫離此間往至他所。』爾時小魚便答大魚曰：『我等曏者以至他所來。』

「大魚便敕小魚曰：『汝等至他所，不為羅網取捕耶？』

「小魚答大魚曰：『我等至彼，不為人所捕，然遙見長線尋我后。』

「大魚便語小魚曰：『汝等以為所害，所以然者，汝所遙見線尋後來者，昔先祖父母，盡為此線所害，汝今必為所害，汝非我兒

現代漢語譯本 如是我聞： 一時，佛陀在舍衛城，祇樹給孤獨園。 當時，世尊告訴眾比丘：『過去的時候，有一個水域，有很多大魚。』 『當時，大魚告誡小魚說：『你們不要離開這裡去其他地方，以免被壞人抓走。』 『當時，小魚不聽大魚的教誨，就去了其他地方。』 『當時，漁夫用飯網和魚線捕魚，小魚看見了，就趕緊回到大魚那裡。』 『當時，大魚看見小魚來了，就問小魚說：『我不是告訴你們不要離開這裡去其他地方嗎？』當時小魚就回答大魚說：『我們剛才去了其他地方。』 『大魚就告誡小魚說：『你們去了其他地方，沒有被漁網抓走嗎？』 『小魚回答大魚說：『我們去了那裡，沒有被人抓走，但是遠遠地看見長長的魚線在我們後面追趕。』 『大魚就對小魚說：『你們以為沒有被傷害，其實不然，你們遠遠看見的追趕你們的魚線，是你們的祖先父母都被這條魚線所害，你們現在也必定會被它所害，你們不是我的孩子。』

English version Thus have I heard: At one time, the Buddha was in Shravasti, at the Jeta Grove, the Garden of Anathapindika. At that time, the World Honored One told the Bhikkhus: 'In the past, there was a body of water, abundant with large fish.' 'At that time, a large fish instructed the small fish, saying: 'You should not leave this place to go elsewhere, lest you be caught by evil people.' 'At that time, the small fish did not heed the large fish's teaching and went to other places.' 'At that time, fishermen used rice nets and fishing lines to catch fish. When the small fish saw this, they quickly returned to the large fish.' 'At that time, the large fish saw the small fish coming and asked them: 'Did I not tell you not to leave this place to go elsewhere?' At that time, the small fish replied to the large fish: 'We just went to other places.' 'The large fish then instructed the small fish, saying: 'When you went to other places, were you not caught by the nets?' 'The small fish replied to the large fish: 'When we went there, we were not caught by people, but we saw long fishing lines chasing after us from afar.' 'The large fish then said to the small fish: 'You think you were not harmed, but that is not so. The fishing lines you saw chasing after you from afar are the same lines that harmed your ancestors and parents. You will surely be harmed by them now, you are not my children.'

「爾時小魚，盡為魚師所捕，舉著岸上，如是小魚、大魚有死者，此亦如是。

「或有一比丘，在他聚落遊行，著衣持缽，周行乞食，福度眾生；不守護身，不守護口意，不具足諸根，意不專一。

「即于彼村落乞食，時見諸女人端正無雙，色猶桃華，見已便起淫心，以此淫心，身口意熾然。

「彼以身口意熾然，即于村落乞食，還所止處，故發欲想。

「便往尊比丘所，以此因緣，具向諸比丘說。

「諸尊大比丘，告此比丘言：『汝起淫想，此不為凈。汝比丘！當惡露觀。』

「尊大比丘，語復至再三。

「爾時彼比丘，身口意熾盛，復至彼村落乞食，遙見女人端正無比，色猶桃華，見已便起淫心，以此淫心，身口意熾然，彼以身口意熾然故，即于彼村落乞食已，還所止處，往尊大比丘所，以此因緣，具向諸比丘說。

「彼尊比丘，告此比丘言：『汝往，非我眾中比丘

現代漢語譯本 『那時，小魚都被漁夫捕撈，舉到岸上，這些小魚、大魚都有死去的，情況也是這樣。』 『或者有一位比丘，在其他村落，穿著僧衣拿著缽，四處乞食，為眾生帶來福報；但他不守護自己的身體，不守護自己的口和意念，不具備諸根的約束，心意不專一。』 『他就在那個村落乞食時，看到一些女人容貌端正，無與倫比，姿色如同桃花，看到后就生起了淫慾之心，因為這淫慾之心，身口意都像火一樣燃燒。』 『他因為身口意像火一樣燃燒，就在村落乞食后，回到自己住的地方，仍然產生淫慾的想法。』 『於是就去到尊貴的比丘那裡，因為這個緣故，把情況詳細地告訴了各位比丘。』 『各位尊貴的大比丘，告訴這位比丘說：『你生起淫慾的想法，這不算是清凈。你這位比丘！應當修習不凈觀。』 『尊貴的大比丘，這樣說了不止一次，而是再三地勸告。』 『那時，那位比丘，身口意仍然像火一樣燃燒，又去那個村落乞食，遠遠地看到那些女人容貌端正，無與倫比，姿色如同桃花，看到后就生起了淫慾之心，因為這淫慾之心，身口意都像火一樣燃燒，他因為身口意像火一樣燃燒的緣故，就在那個村落乞食后，回到自己住的地方，去到尊貴的大比丘那裡，因為這個緣故，把情況詳細地告訴了各位比丘。』 『那位尊貴的比丘，告訴這位比丘說：『你走吧，你不是我們僧團中的比丘。』

'Or there is a bhikkhu, in other villages, wearing robes and carrying a bowl, going around begging for food, bringing blessings to sentient beings; but he does not guard his body, does not guard his mouth and mind, does not possess the restraint of the senses, and his mind is not focused.' 'He was begging for food in that village when he saw some women with upright appearances, unparalleled, their beauty like peach blossoms, and upon seeing them, he aroused lustful thoughts, and because of this lustful thought, his body, mouth, and mind were burning like fire.' 「爾時此比丘不捨禁戒，便著俗服，樂愛慾中，是謂比丘魔得其便，隨波旬所欲，亦不脫生老病死愁憂苦惱。如是諸比丘利養具，甚為難，甚為苦，甚為恐畏，墮入惡趣，不生無上處。」

「是故，諸比丘！當作是學，已得利養當舍離之，未得利養不起貪意，如是諸比丘當作是學。」

爾時諸比丘聞佛所說，歡喜奉行

現代漢語譯本：那時，如果這個比丘不遵守戒律，就穿上世俗的衣服，沉溺於情慾之中，這就是比丘被魔所控制，隨從魔王波旬的意願，也無法擺脫生老病死、憂愁苦惱。像這樣的比丘，貪圖供養，是非常困難、非常痛苦、非常可怕的，會墮入惡道，無法到達至高無上的境界。 因此，各位比丘！應當這樣學習：已經得到的供養應當捨棄，沒有得到的供養不要生起貪念。各位比丘，應當這樣學習。 當時，各位比丘聽了佛的教誨，都歡喜地遵照奉行。

English version: At that time, if this bhikkhu does not uphold the precepts, he will put on secular clothes and indulge in sensual desires. This is when the bhikkhu is controlled by Mara, following the wishes of Mara Papiyas, and he cannot escape birth, old age, sickness, death, sorrow, and suffering. Such bhikkhus, craving for offerings, face great difficulty, great suffering, and great fear, falling into evil realms and failing to reach the supreme state. Therefore, bhikkhus! You should learn this: having received offerings, you should relinquish them; not having received offerings, you should not give rise to greed. Bhikkhus, you should learn this. At that time, the bhikkhus, having heard what the Buddha said, joyfully accepted and practiced it.
