Text on Seating Arrangements from the Vimalakirti Sutra

I prostrate to the Akshobhya Buddha (妙喜如來) in the Fragrant Accumulation World (香積世界) above, the manifested body of the Wonderful Joy Tathagata. He manifests with wife, children, and retinue, yet his mind is pure, constantly cultivating Brahma-conduct. His wisdom, power, and spiritual abilities are immeasurable; with a hand he shakes the sun and moon, and moves Mount Sumeru (須彌山).

Our Buddha Tathagata is in the Amra garden (庵園), proclaiming the profound and universally gathered teachings. The elder (長者, Vimalakirti) is joyful in body and mind, holding his precious canopy to approach the Tathagata.

Gently shaking the cloud canopy adorned with golden bells, the seven treasures emit fragrance far and wide. All the way to the Dharma assembly in the Amra garden, he raises the precious canopy to offer it to the Tathagata.

Five hundred flower canopies stand before him, the holy power combining them into one canopy. The sun, moon, and stars all appear within it, as well as mountains, rivers, the earth, and the dragon palaces.

When the world shakes, the precious canopy also shakes; when the world moves, the precious canopy also moves. All the pure lands of the ten directions, the Tathagatas of the three times, all appear within it.

In the center of the city of Vaishali (毗耶離國), the light of the precious tree shines with golden brilliance. Many virtuous people emerge, their nature compassionate and merciful; surely they have cultivated diligently in the past.

The layman Vimalakirti (維摩) is the most honored among the assembly, perfect in ten virtues, respected by all. He is close to the boundless Buddhas of the three times; therefore, he is called the elder Vimalakirti.

Five hundred Shravakas (聲聞) are all rebuked, because they are attached to appearances, and their understanding of the emptiness of Dharma is divided. Moreover, there are Ratnakara (光嚴), Maitreya (彌勒), and others in the assembly, who bow in body and mind to Vimalakirti's disciples.

The gate of non-duality, the true nature itself is inherently integrated; only Vimalakirti has personally realized it. He manifests illness, lying alone in his room, extensively discussing the six chapters of inconceivable Dharma.

三身(法身、報身、應身)押座文

常常嘆息多劫都在輪迴,末法時代中多有障礙和困難,慚愧我世尊(釋迦摩尼佛)悲願深重, 唯獨留下佛教在世間。

向娑婆世界(Saha World,我們所居住的這個世界)作舟船,在五濁(劫濁、見濁、煩惱濁、眾生濁、命濁)劫中作為引導者,只是眾生惡業深重, 敬信之心非常稀少。

見到別人作惡就強行湊上去,聽到講經說法就不理不睬。 今生少有善事不曾做,來世想獲得人身非常困難。

不知不覺地非常忙碌,不怕不驚地長久造罪,如果不是這樣,死王(閻羅王)就要來抓你了, 準備千年乃至萬年受苦吧。

今天有幸聽聞大乘經典,就像見到優曇花(Udumbara,祥瑞之花)一樣,暫時得以聽聞微妙的佛法, 萬劫身中的惡業得以消滅。

輪王(轉輪聖王)的髻寶此時相逢,窮子的衣珠今天得到,十法行中行持一行, 六千功德用來莊嚴自身。

既然能夠來到道場中,一定是願意聽聞微妙的佛法,喜歡的人一心合掌, 把經題名字唱出來。

今天法師宣說真理,坐下的聽眾不要因為懈怠而停止修行。

【English Translation】 English version The Buddha called out to the ten great disciples, They all said they were not capable of inquiring about the illness, only Manjusri (Manjusri, symbol of wisdom), was the teacher of a thousand Buddhas.

The towering figure shook the Treasure Star Palace, the precarious pearl shook the flying Treasure Throne. Eighty thousand immortals filled the country with fragrance, and thousands of saints filled the long sky.

Please have a meal in the Fragrant Accumulation Buddha Land above, transform into the Lamp King Buddha and roar the Dharma on the Lion Throne. All came to the Abbot's room in Vaishali (Vaishali), to perform Buddhist affairs and promote them.

This morning, I plan to proclaim the profound scriptures, I only wish that compassion will come here. The listeners who hear the scriptures will have their sins eliminated, and they will all attain the Bodhi (Bodhi, enlightenment) Dharma Body.

When will the burning house ever stop, the five desires (form, sound, smell, taste, touch) will eventually bring the suffering of birth and death.

It is better to listen to the scriptures to seek liberation, can you learn Buddhism and practice? Those who can do it, reverently put their palms together, and sing the title of the scripture.

I often sigh that I have been in reincarnation for many kalpas, and there are many obstacles and difficulties in the Age of Degenerate Dharma. I am ashamed that the World Honored One (Sakyamuni Buddha) has deep compassion and vows, Only Buddhism is left in the world.

Make a boat to the Saha World (Saha World, the world we live in), and be the guide in the Five Turbidities (Kalpa Turbidity, View Turbidity, Affliction Turbidity, Sentient Being Turbidity, Life Turbidity), but sentient beings have heavy evil karma, The heart of respect and faith is very rare.

When you see others doing evil, you force yourself to join in, and when you hear about preaching, you ignore it. In this life, you have done few good deeds, and it is very difficult to obtain a human body in the next life.

Unknowingly, you are very busy, and you are not afraid or surprised to create sins for a long time. If this is not the case, the King of Death (Yama) will come to arrest you, Prepare to suffer for thousands or even tens of thousands of years.

Today, I am fortunate to hear the Mahayana Sutra, just like seeing the Udumbara flower (Udumbara, auspicious flower), I can temporarily hear the subtle Dharma, The evil karma in the body of ten thousand kalpas can be eliminated.

The topknot jewel of the Wheel-Turning King (Chakravartin) meets at this time, and the poor man's clothing pearl is obtained today. Practice one of the ten Dharma practices, Use six thousand merits to adorn yourself.

Since you can come to the monastery, you must be willing to hear the subtle Dharma. Those who like it, put their palms together with one heart, Sing the name of the scripture.

Today, the Dharma master speaks the truth, and the listeners sitting down should not stop practicing because of laziness.

始從兜率降人間 先向王宮示生相 九龍齊嗢香和水  爭洛蓮花葉上身

聖主摩耶往後園 頻妃婇女走樂喧 魚透碧波堪賞玩  無憂花色最宜觀

無憂花樹葉敷榮 夫人彼中縵步行 舉手或攀枝余葉  釋迦聖主神中生

釋迦慈父降生來 還從左脅出身胎 九龍灑水早是祓  千輪足下有瑞蓮

阿斯陀仙啟大王 太子瑞應□貞祥 不是尋常等閑事  必作個菩提大法王

前生與殿下結良緣 賤妾如今豈敢專 是日耶輸再三請  太子當時脫指環

長曳不戀世榮華 厭患深宮為太子 舍卻金輪七寶位  夜半逾城愿出家

無憂花樹枝繁葉茂, 夫人悠閒地在樹下漫步, 舉手攀摘樹枝上的葉子, 釋迦聖主就在此時降生。

釋迦慈父降生, 從母親的左脅出生, 九龍灑水為他沐浴, 足下生有千輻輪相的瑞蓮。

Eight-Finger Seal Verse

Initially descending from Tushita Heaven (Tushita Heaven, one of the six heavens of the desire realm in Buddhism) to the human world, First manifesting the appearance of birth in the royal palace, Nine dragons together spout fragrant water, Competing to support his body on lotus leaves.

The holy Queen Maya (Queen Maya, the mother of Shakyamuni) goes to the back garden, The concubines and palace women frolic and make noise, Fish swim freely in the clear waves, worthy of appreciation and enjoyment, The color of the Ashoka flowers is most suitable for viewing.

The Ashoka tree's leaves flourish, The queen leisurely strolls beneath the tree, Raising her hand to pluck the leaves from the branches, The holy Shakyamuni is born at this moment.

The compassionate father Shakyamuni is born, Emerging from his mother's left side, Nine dragons sprinkle water to bathe him, Auspicious lotuses with a thousand spokes appear beneath his feet.

The sage Asita (Asita, an ancient Indian hermit) tells the king, The prince possesses auspicious omens, This is no ordinary matter, In the future, he will surely become a Bodhi Dharma King (Buddha, the enlightened one).

In a previous life, I formed a good relationship with Your Highness, How dare I be devoted to you alone now? On this day, Yasodhara (Yasodhara, Shakyamuni's wife) pleads again and again, The prince then takes off his ring.

For a long time, he does not covet worldly glory, Tired of the deep palace life, he resolves to be a prince, Abandoning the seven treasures of the Chakravarti (Chakravarti, the wheel-turning king), He crosses the city walls at midnight, vowing to leave home.

Practicing asceticism in the mountains for six years, Living with birds and beasts as companions, Enduring hunger for a long time, not eating real food, Relying only on hemp and wheat to sustain a short life.

Attaining Bodhi (Bodhi, enlightenment) under the Bodhi tree, Subduing all demons, achieving perfect enlightenment, Releasing a ray of light from the summit of Vulture Peak Mountain, Turning the Wheel of Dharma (Turning the Wheel of Dharma) for the first time in Deer Park.

First, he expounds the teachings of existence, benefiting sentient beings, Second, he proclaims the doctrine of emptiness, enabling people to awaken and understand, Later, he discusses the subtle Dharma on Vulture Peak Mountain, Benefiting this life and future lives, inconceivable. (This morning, I intend to expound this profound scripture. May compassion descend here, and may the audience who hear the scripture have their sins eradicated.)

This place is full of sorrow. Once you reach Chengnan, you never return. Get up early in the morning to find a sandy path. Rest in the evening and seek food everywhere. Thinking of my son and mother, they should miss me for a long time. I should meet the Tathagata in the assembly. Today's merit of preaching the scriptures, may it flourish and return early. This place is a place of separation, and every night I can only hear sorrow everywhere. May I ask why I am so sad? Yesterday, a robber caught my son, and I am lonely, poor, and old.


此。啟告黃天愿照之。儻令母子重相見。由如枯樹再生枝。弟子佈施一索分難之時。愿平美陪兒早出來久住令賤。

此方日沒西方照。莫道西沈日便無。此方入滅化余方。莫道世尊真滅度。譬如長天有月被浮雲障翳不出來。身中有佛性甚分明。被業障覆藏都不現。欲長空月現先須要假細狂風。欲得身中佛性明事須勤聽大乘。從才云被狂風吹散去。月影長空便出來。在聽甚深微妙法。身中佛性甚分明。一沾兩沾二沾雨。滅卻衢中多少塵。一句兩句大乘經。滅卻身中多少罪。我擬請佛恐人坐。多時便擬說經。願不願者檢心掌待。

西方還有白銀臺。四眾聽法心總開。愿聞法者合掌著。都講經題唱將來。

溫室經講唱押座文

頂禮上方大覺尊。歸命難思清凈眾。四智三身隨眾愿。慈悲丈六釋迦文。百千萬劫作輪王。不樂王宮恩愛事。捨命捨身千萬劫。直至今身證菩提。生死海中久沉淪。不覺不知業力引。垢障消除今睹佛。光照三千世界中。毗耶離國有庵園。奈女還生奈花中。寶樹枝條光色好。非凡非聖化生身。祇域還從奈女生。妙通法術救眾生。能療眾病一切差。國稱之寶大醫王。父號祇婆慈慜賢。下針之疾立輕便。名高八國為長者。回喪起死閻浮中。祇域思念牟尼尊。明□敕傢俱詣佛。直到靈山

【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本: 弟子啟稟上天,希望您能照見我的心願。如果能讓母子重逢,就如同枯樹重新長出枝條一樣。弟子願意佈施,即使是在一索(古代的錢幣單位)都難以分出的時候。愿平安美好的孩子早日出生,長久地陪伴我。

正如太陽從東方升起西方落下,但不要說太陽西沉就什麼都沒有了。就像世尊在此方入滅,卻在其他地方化生一樣,不要說世尊真的滅度了。譬如廣闊的天空中有月亮,卻被浮雲遮蔽而無法顯現。我們身中也有佛性,非常分明,卻被業障覆蓋而無法顯現。想要長空中的月亮顯現,首先需要藉助細微的狂風。想要身中的佛性顯明,就必須勤奮地聽聞大乘佛法。等到云被狂風吹散,月亮的影子自然就會在長空中顯現。在聽聞甚深微妙的佛法時,身中的佛性就會非常分明。一滴兩滴,兩滴雨水,就能消除道路上多少塵埃。一句兩句大乘經文,就能消除身中多少罪業。我本想請佛,又怕打擾大家太久,所以現在準備開始講經。不願聽講的人可以自己離開。

《溫室經》講唱押座文

【English Translation】 English version: I, your disciple, beseech the heavens to witness my wish. If mother and child can be reunited, it would be like a withered tree sprouting new branches. I am willing to give alms, even when it is difficult to spare a single 'suo' (an ancient unit of currency). May the peaceful and wonderful child be born soon and stay with me for a long time.

Just as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, do not say that when the sun sets in the west, there is nothing left. Just as the World-Honored One enters Nirvana here but is reborn elsewhere, do not say that the World-Honored One has truly passed away. For example, in the vast sky, there is a moon, but it is obscured by floating clouds and cannot appear. We also have Buddha-nature within us, very clear, but it is covered by karmic obstacles and cannot manifest. If you want the moon in the vast sky to appear, you must first rely on a gentle breeze. If you want the Buddha-nature within you to become clear, you must diligently listen to the Mahayana Dharma. When the clouds are blown away by the wind, the moon's shadow will naturally appear in the vast sky. When listening to the profound and subtle Dharma, the Buddha-nature within you will become very clear. A drop or two, two drops of rain, can eliminate much dust on the road. A sentence or two of the Mahayana Sutra can eliminate much sin within you. I originally intended to invite the Buddha, but I was afraid of disturbing everyone for too long, so I am now preparing to begin the sutra lecture. Those who do not wish to listen may leave on their own.

In the West, there is also a silver platform (referring to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss). The fourfold assembly listens to the Dharma, and their hearts are all opened. Those who wish to hear the Dharma, please join your palms. The 'dujiang' (a Buddhist position) please chant the title of the sutra.

The 'Wen Shi Jing' (Sutra of the Hot House) Lecture Seating Text

I prostrate before the Great Awakened One (referring to the Buddha) above. I take refuge in the inconceivable pure Sangha. May the Buddha fulfill the wishes of all beings with the Four Wisdoms (Great Perfect Mirror Wisdom, Equality Wisdom, Wonderful Observing Wisdom, Accomplishing Wisdom) and the Three Bodies (Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, Nirmanakaya). The compassionate Shakyamuni Buddha with the sixteen-foot golden body. You were a Wheel-Turning King (an ideal monarch with the power to rule the world) for hundreds of millions of kalpas, but you did not covet the love affairs of the royal palace. You gave up your life and body for countless kalpas, until you attained Bodhi (enlightenment) in this life. We have been sinking in the sea of birth and death for a long time, unknowingly, led by the power of karma. Now that the defilements have been removed, we can see the Buddha, and the Buddha's light shines throughout the three thousand worlds. In the city of Vaisali (an ancient Indian city), there is a garden. Nai Nu (a person's name) was born there, like being born from a lotus flower. The branches of the precious tree are radiant and beautiful. She is neither ordinary nor holy, but a manifested being. Jivaka (a person's name) was also born from Nai Nu, possessing supernatural powers and saving sentient beings. She can cure all kinds of diseases, and everything can be healed, so she is called the treasure of the country, the great physician. Her father's name is Jiva (a person's name), compassionate and virtuous, and he can relieve pain immediately by applying needles to treat diseases. His reputation resounds throughout the eight countries, and he is revered as an elder. He can bring the dead back to life. Jivaka thought of Muni (referring to Shakyamuni Buddha), so he ordered his whole family to go to where the Buddha was, and they came all the way to Ling Shan (referring to the place where the Buddha preached).


法會上。請佛沐浴及凡僧。佛說七物各有功。不□祈願浴法身。香湯能凈凡聖眾。功德無量滿愿中。今晨擬說甚深文。唯愿慈悲來至此。聽眾聞經罪消滅。總證菩提法寶身。閻浮濁惡實堪悲。老病終朝長似醉。已舍喧求出離。端坐聽經能不能。能者虔恭合掌著。經題名字唱將來。

【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本: 在法會上,請佛陀沐浴以及所有僧侶。佛陀說七種物品各有其功用,不僅僅是祈願洗浴佛的法身(Dharmakaya)。香湯能夠凈化凡人和聖人,功德無量,滿足願望。今天早上準備宣說甚深的文章,只願慈悲降臨此處。聽眾聽聞佛經,罪業消滅,最終證得菩提,成就法寶之身。閻浮提(Jambudvipa,指我們所居住的這個世界)的污濁和罪惡實在令人悲哀,衰老和疾病整日纏繞,長久如同醉酒一般。已經捨棄喧囂,尋求出離。端坐聽經,能不能做到?能做到的人虔誠恭敬地合掌。將經題的名字唱出來吧。

【English Translation】 English version: At the Dharma assembly, we invite the Buddha to bathe, as well as all the Sangha (monks). The Buddha said that the seven items each have their own merit, not only praying to bathe the Dharmakaya (body of the Dharma) of the Buddha. Fragrant soup can purify both ordinary beings and sages, with immeasurable merit, fulfilling wishes. This morning, we intend to speak of profound texts, only wishing that compassion will come here. Listeners who hear the sutras will have their sins eradicated, and ultimately attain Bodhi (enlightenment), accomplishing the Dharma-treasure body. The turbidity and evil of Jambudvipa (the world we live in) are truly pitiable; old age and sickness entangle us all day long, constantly like being drunk. Having already abandoned the noise and seeking liberation, can we sit upright and listen to the sutras? Those who can, reverently and respectfully join their palms. Let the name of the sutra be chanted.
