聞如是:
一時,佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園,與大比丘眾俱,比丘五百及諸菩薩。
爾時,世尊告諸比丘:「將來之世,當有比丘,因有一法不從法化,令法毀滅,不得長益。何謂為一?不護禁戒,不能守心,不修智慧,放逸其意,唯求善名不順道教,不肯勤慕度世之業。是為一事,令法毀滅。」
佛告比丘:「復有二事,令法毀滅。何謂為二?一、不護禁戒,不攝其心,不修智慧,畜妻養子放心恣意,賈作治生以共相活。二、伴黨相著憎奉法者,欲令陷墮故為言義,謂之諛諂;內犯惡行外佯清白。是為二事,令法毀滅。」
佛告諸比丘:「復有三事,令法毀滅。何謂為三?一、既不護禁戒,不能攝心,不修智慧。二、自讀文字不識句逗,以上著下、以下著上,頭尾顛倒,不能解了義之所歸,自以為是。三、明者呵之不從其教,反懷瞋恨,謂相嫉妒。識義者少,多不別理咸云爲是。是為三事,令法毀滅。」
佛告諸比丘:「復有四事,令法毀滅。何謂為四?一、將來比丘,已舍家業在空閑處,不修道業。二、喜遊人間憒鬧之中,行來談
【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本 如是我聞: 一時,佛陀在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園(Jetavana Anathapindika Garden),與眾多大比丘一同居住,有五百位比丘和諸位菩薩。 當時,世尊告訴諸位比丘:『未來世,將有比丘,因為有一種法不遵循正法教化,導致佛法毀滅,不能增長利益。這一法是什麼呢?就是不守護戒律,不能約束內心,不修習智慧,放縱自己的心意,只追求好的名聲而不順從佛道教誨,不肯勤勉修習度脫世間的功業。這就是一件事,導致佛法毀滅。』 佛陀告訴比丘:『還有兩件事,導致佛法毀滅。這兩件事是什麼呢?第一,不守護戒律,不攝持內心,不修習智慧,娶妻生子,放縱自己的心意,從事買賣經營以維持生計。第二,結黨營私,互相依附,憎恨奉行正法的人,想要使他們陷於墮落,所以故意曲解佛法,稱之為諂媚;內心犯下惡行,外表卻假裝清白。這就是兩件事,導致佛法毀滅。』 佛陀告訴諸位比丘:『還有三件事,導致佛法毀滅。這三件事是什麼呢?第一,既不守護戒律,也不能攝持內心,不修習智慧。第二,自己讀誦經文卻不認識句讀,把上面的字放到下面,把下面的字放到上面,顛倒頭尾,不能理解經文的真正含義,還自以為是。第三,明白的人呵斥他們,卻不聽從教誨,反而懷恨在心,認為別人是嫉妒他們。認識經文含義的人很少,多數人不能分辨道理,都說他們是對的。這就是三件事,導致佛法毀滅。』 佛陀告訴諸位比丘:『還有四件事,導致佛法毀滅。這四件事是什麼呢?第一,未來的比丘,已經捨棄了世俗的家業,住在空閑的地方,卻不修習佛道。第二,喜歡在人間喧鬧的地方遊蕩,來來往往,談論世俗的事情。第三,不肯聽從有智慧的人的教誨,反而喜歡聽從那些沒有智慧的人的說法。第四,不肯精進修行,只喜歡睡覺,貪圖飲食,不肯斷除貪慾。這就是四件事,導致佛法毀滅。』
【English Translation】 English version Thus have I heard: At one time, the Buddha was dwelling in the Jeta Grove, Anathapindika's Garden in Sravasti, together with a large assembly of monks, five hundred monks and various Bodhisattvas. At that time, the World Honored One told the monks: 'In the future, there will be monks who, because of one thing not following the Dharma's teachings, will cause the Dharma to be destroyed and unable to grow in benefit. What is this one thing? It is not guarding the precepts, not being able to control the mind, not cultivating wisdom, indulging their own minds, only seeking good reputation and not following the Buddha's teachings, and not being diligent in cultivating the work of liberating the world. This is one thing that causes the Dharma to be destroyed.' The Buddha told the monks: 'There are also two things that cause the Dharma to be destroyed. What are these two things? First, not guarding the precepts, not controlling their minds, not cultivating wisdom, taking wives and having children, indulging their own minds, engaging in trade and business to make a living. Second, forming factions and clinging to each other, hating those who uphold the Dharma, wanting to cause them to fall, so they deliberately distort the Dharma, calling it flattery; inwardly committing evil deeds, while outwardly pretending to be pure. These are two things that cause the Dharma to be destroyed.' The Buddha told the monks: 'There are also three things that cause the Dharma to be destroyed. What are these three things? First, not guarding the precepts, not being able to control their minds, and not cultivating wisdom. Second, reading the scriptures themselves but not recognizing the pauses and punctuation, putting the upper words below and the lower words above, reversing the beginning and the end, not being able to understand the true meaning of the scriptures, and still thinking they are right. Third, when those who understand scold them, they do not listen to the teachings, but instead hold resentment in their hearts, thinking that others are jealous of them. Few people understand the meaning of the scriptures, and most people cannot distinguish the truth, and all say they are right. These are three things that cause the Dharma to be destroyed.' The Buddha told the monks: 'There are also four things that cause the Dharma to be destroyed. What are these four things? First, future monks, having already abandoned their worldly affairs and living in secluded places, do not cultivate the path of the Buddha. Second, they like to wander in the noisy places of the human world, coming and going, talking about worldly matters. Third, they are unwilling to listen to the teachings of the wise, but instead like to listen to the words of those who have no wisdom. Fourth, they are unwilling to diligently practice, but only like to sleep, crave food, and are unwilling to cut off greed. These are four things that cause the Dharma to be destroyed.'
言,求好袈裟五色之服。三、高聽遠視以為綺雅,自以高德無能及者,以雜碎智比日月之明——畜已!四、不攝三事,不護根門,行婦女間,宣文飾辭多言合偶,以動人心,使清變濁;身行荒亂,正法廢遲。是為四事,令法毀滅。」
佛告比丘:「復有五事,令法毀滅。何謂為五?一、或有比丘,本以法故出家修道,廢深經教十二因緣、三十七品,方等深妙玄虛之慧、智度無極、善權方便、空無相愿至化之節。二、反習雜句淺末小經,世俗行故。王者經典,亂道之原,好講此業,易解世事,趣得人心令其歡喜,因致名聞。三、新聞法人、淺解之士,意用妙快;深達之士,不用為佳。四、天龍鬼神不以為喜,心懷悒戚口發斯言:『大法欲滅,故使其然。』舍妙法化,反宣雜句。諸天流淚,速逝而去。五、由是正法稍稍見舍,無精修者。是為五事,令法毀滅。」
佛告比丘:「吾滅度后,有此邪事十五之亂,令法毀滅,一何痛哉!若有比丘欲諦學道,棄捐綺飾、不求名聞、質樸守真、宣傳正經。佛之雅典深法之化不用多言,案本說經不捨正句,希言屢中不失佛意。粗衣趣食,得美不甘;得粗不惡。衣食好醜,隨施者意,不以瞋喜。攝身、口、意守諸根門,不違佛教。念命甚短,恍惚以過,如夢所見,覺不知處

【English Translation】 English version: The Buddha said, 'There are four things that cause the Dharma to perish.' 'What are the four?' 'First, some Bhikkhus inwardly crave fine robes and five-colored garments. Second, they like to listen from high places and look from afar, thinking it elegant and refined. They consider themselves of high virtue, unmatched by anyone, and compare their fragmented wisdom to the brightness of the sun and moon—this is self-destruction! Third, they do not restrain their actions, speech, and thoughts, nor do they guard their six sense doors. They walk among women, proclaiming embellished words, speaking much of love and relationships, thereby agitating people's minds and turning purity into impurity. Their behavior is chaotic and disordered, causing the true Dharma to decline and slow down. These four things cause the Dharma to perish.' The Buddha told the Bhikkhus, 'There are five more things that cause the Dharma to perish.' 'What are the five?' 'First, some Bhikkhus, who initially left home to cultivate the Way because of the Dharma, abandon the profound teachings of the twelve links of dependent origination, the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, the profound and subtle wisdom of the Vaipulya Sutras, the immeasurable wisdom, skillful means, and the stages of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness that lead to transformation. Second, they instead study miscellaneous, shallow, and minor sutras, because these conform to worldly habits. The classics of kings and ministers are the source of confusion in the Way. They like to lecture on these, as they are easy to understand worldly matters, easy to win people's hearts, make them happy, and thus gain fame. Third, those who are new to the Dharma and have shallow understanding find these teachings clever and pleasing; while those who have deep understanding of the Dharma do not consider them good. Fourth, the gods, dragons, and spirits are not pleased by this. They are worried and say, 'The great Dharma is about to perish, that is why this is happening.' They abandon the subtle Dharma teachings and instead proclaim miscellaneous words. The gods weep and quickly depart. Fifth, because of this, the true Dharma is gradually abandoned, and no one diligently cultivates it. These five things cause the Dharma to perish.' The Buddha told the Bhikkhus, 'After my Parinirvana, there will be these fifteen kinds of evil disturbances that will cause the Dharma to perish. How painful this is! If there are Bhikkhus who wish to diligently study the Way, they should abandon ornate decorations, not seek fame, remain simple, uphold the truth, and proclaim the true sutras. The Buddha's classics and profound Dharma teachings do not need many words. Explain the sutras according to the original text, without abandoning the correct phrases. Speak concisely and to the point, without deviating from the Buddha's intention. Coarse clothing is enough to cover the body; simple food is enough to fill the stomach. Regarding the quality of clothing and food, follow the wishes of the donors, without giving rise to anger or joy. Restrain the body, speech, and mind, guard the six sense doors, and do not violate the Buddha's teachings. Remember that life is very short, passing in an instant, like a dream, and upon waking, one does not know where one is.'
。三塗之難,不可稱計,勤修佛法猶救頭然。五戒、十善、六度無極,四等、四恩、智慧、善權咸可精行。雖不值佛世,出家為道,學不唐捐,平其本心,愍念一切,十方蒙恩。」
佛說如是,諸比丘悲喜前自歸佛,作禮而去。

【English Translation】 English version: The sufferings of the three evil realms are countless; diligently practicing the Buddha's teachings is like putting out a fire on one's head. The Five Precepts (not to kill, not to steal, not to commit sexual misconduct, not to lie, not to take intoxicants), the Ten Virtues (not killing, not stealing, not committing sexual misconduct, not lying, not speaking divisively, not speaking harshly, not engaging in frivolous talk, not being greedy, not being angry, not holding wrong views), the Six Perfections (generosity, morality, patience, diligence, meditation, wisdom) without limit, the Four Immeasurables (loving-kindness, compassion, joy, equanimity), the Four Kinds of Gratitude (gratitude to parents, gratitude to all beings, gratitude to the king, gratitude to the Three Jewels), wisdom, and skillful means should all be diligently practiced. Even if one does not live in a time when a Buddha is present in the world, if one leaves home to practice the Way, one's learning will not be in vain. By calming one's mind and having compassion for all beings, the ten directions will receive blessings. Having spoken thus, the Bhikkhus were both sorrowful and joyful. They went forward to take refuge in the Buddha, paid their respects, and departed. The Buddha Speaks the Sutra of Future Changes
