如是我聞：
一時佛在王舍城竹林精舍。爾時尊者大目犍連，于夜後分從自住處往詣佛所。到已，投地頂禮佛足，於一面坐。
彼時尊者大目犍連即從坐起，白佛言：「世尊！若有苾芻、苾芻尼，迷醉犯戒，無慚無愧，輕慢律儀，行非法行。世尊！彼等云何而得其福？」
世尊告言尊者大目犍連：「若有苾芻、苾芻尼，迷醉犯戒，無慚無愧，輕慢律儀，行非法行。彼人命終生地獄中，壽等四大王天五百年，計人間歲數九百萬歲。」
尊者大目犍連復白佛言：「世尊！若有苾芻、苾芻尼，迷醉犯戒，無慚無愧，輕慢律儀，不依說法。彼等云何而得其福？」
世尊告言尊者大目犍連：「若有苾芻、苾芻尼，迷醉犯戒，無慚無愧，輕慢律儀，若不依說法。彼人命終生地獄中，壽等忉利天一千歲，計人間算數三俱胝六百萬歲。」
尊者大目犍連白佛言：「世尊！若有苾芻、苾芻尼，迷醉犯戒，無慚無愧，輕慢律儀，行波逸提法。彼等云何而得其福？」

一時，佛在王舍城（Rājagṛha）竹林精舍（Veṇuvana）。當時，尊者大目犍連（Mahāmaudgalyāyana），在夜間後半段從自己的住所前往佛陀所在之處。到達后，他五體投地頂禮佛足，在一旁坐下。
這時，尊者大目犍連即從座位起身，對佛說：「世尊！如果有比丘（bhikṣu）、比丘尼（bhikṣuṇī），因迷惑沉醉而犯戒，沒有慚愧之心，輕視怠慢戒律，做出不合佛法的事情。世尊！他們會得到什麼樣的果報呢？」
世尊告訴尊者大目犍連：「如果有比丘、比丘尼，因迷惑沉醉而犯戒，沒有慚愧之心，輕視怠慢戒律，做出不合佛法的事情。這樣的人命終之後會墮入地獄之中，壽命相當於四大王天（Cāturmahārājika）的五百年，如果換算成我們人間的歲數，就是九百萬歲。」
尊者大目犍連又問佛說：「世尊！如果有比丘、比丘尼，因迷惑沉醉而犯戒，沒有慚愧之心，輕視怠慢戒律，不依從佛法教導。他們會得到什麼樣的果報呢？」
世尊告訴尊者大目犍連：「如果有比丘、比丘尼，因迷惑沉醉而犯戒，沒有慚愧之心，輕視怠慢戒律，不依從佛法教導。這樣的人命終之後會墮入地獄之中，壽命相當於忉利天（Trāyastriṃśa）的一千歲，如果換算成我們人間的歲數，就是三俱胝六百萬歲。」

Translated by Dharma Master Fa-t'ien, Minister of the Honglu Temple and Great Master of Spreading Teachings, commissioned by the Emperor, from the Tripitaka of Western Heaven
Thus have I heard:
At one time, the Buddha was in the Jeta Grove (Veṇuvana) in the city of Rājagṛha (王舍城). At that time, the Venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana (大目犍連), in the later part of the night, went from his dwelling to where the Buddha was. Having arrived, he prostrated himself at the Buddha's feet and sat to one side.
Then, the Venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana rose from his seat and said to the Buddha: 'World Honored One! If there are bhikṣus (比丘) and bhikṣuṇīs (比丘尼) who, being intoxicated and deluded, violate the precepts, are without shame or remorse, disregard the monastic rules, and engage in unrighteous conduct, World Honored One, what kind of fortune will they receive?'
The World Honored One told the Venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana: 'If there are bhikṣus and bhikṣuṇīs who, being intoxicated and deluded, violate the precepts, are without shame or remorse, disregard the monastic rules, and engage in unrighteous conduct, such persons, after their lives end, will be born in hell, with a lifespan equivalent to five hundred years of the Four Great Kings Heaven (Cāturmahārājika), which is equivalent to nine million years in the human realm.'
The Venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana again asked the Buddha: 'World Honored One! If there are bhikṣus and bhikṣuṇīs who, being intoxicated and deluded, violate the precepts, are without shame or remorse, disregard the monastic rules, and do not rely on the Dharma teachings, what kind of fortune will they receive?'
The World Honored One told the Venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana: 'If there are bhikṣus and bhikṣuṇīs who, being intoxicated and deluded, violate the precepts, are without shame or remorse, disregard the monastic rules, and do not rely on the Dharma teachings, such persons, after their lives end, will be born in hell, with a lifespan equivalent to one thousand years of the Trāyastriṃśa Heaven (忉利天), which is equivalent to three koṭis and six million years in human reckoning.'
The Venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana asked the Buddha: 'World Honored One! If there are bhikṣus and bhikṣuṇīs who, being intoxicated and deluded, violate the precepts, are without shame or remorse, disregard the monastic rules, and commit offenses requiring expiation (Pācittiya 波逸提), what kind of fortune will they receive?'
The World Honored One told the Venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana: 'If there are bhikṣus and
苾芻尼，迷醉犯戒，無慚無愧，輕慢律儀，行波逸提法。彼人命終生地獄中，壽等夜摩天二千歲，計人間算數一十四俱胝四百萬歲。」
尊者大目犍連白佛言：「世尊！若有苾芻、苾芻尼，迷醉犯戒，無慚無愧，輕慢律儀，犯吐羅缽底法。彼等云何得多福利？」
世尊告言尊者大目犍連：「若有苾芻、苾芻尼，迷醉犯戒，無慚無愧，輕慢律儀，犯吐羅缽底法。彼人命終生地獄中，壽命兜率陀天四千歲，計人間算數五十七俱胝六萬歲。」
尊者大目犍連白佛言：「世尊！若有苾芻、苾芻尼，迷醉犯戒，無慚無愧，輕慢律儀，犯僧伽婆尸沙法。彼等云何得多福利？」
世尊告言尊者大目犍連：「若有苾芻、苾芻尼，迷醉犯戒，無慚無愧，輕慢律儀，犯僧伽婆尸沙法。彼人命終生地獄中，壽等化樂天八千歲，計人間算數二百三十俱胝四百萬歲。」
尊者大目犍連白佛言：「世尊！若有苾芻、苾芻尼，迷醉犯戒，無慚無愧，輕慢律儀，犯波羅夷法。彼等云何得多福利？」
世尊告言尊者大目犍連：「若有苾芻、苾芻尼，迷醉犯戒，無慚無愧，輕慢律儀，犯波羅夷法。彼人命終生地獄中，壽等他化自在天一萬六千歲，計人間算數九百一十五俱胝六百萬歲。」

尊者大目犍連問佛說：『世尊！如果有比丘、比丘尼，因為迷醉而犯戒，不知慚愧，輕視戒律，觸犯僧伽婆尸沙法（Saṃghādisesa，一種重罪，需要僧團懺悔）。他們會得到什麼樣的果報？』
世尊告訴尊者大目犍連：『如果有比丘、比丘尼，因為迷醉而犯戒，不知慚愧，輕視戒律，觸犯僧伽婆尸沙法。此人死後會墮入地獄，壽命相當於化樂天（Nirmāṇarati，欲界第五天）的八千年，如果換算成人間的時間，是二百三十俱胝四百萬年。』
尊者大目犍連問佛說：『世尊！如果有比丘、比丘尼，因為迷醉而犯戒，不知慚愧，輕視戒律，觸犯波羅夷法（Pārājika，斷頭罪，逐出僧團）。他們會得到什麼樣的果報？』
世尊告訴尊者大目犍連：『如果有比丘、比丘尼，因為迷醉而犯戒，不知慚愧，輕視戒律，觸犯波羅夷法。此人死後會墮入地獄，壽命相當於他化自在天（Paranirmita-vaśavartin，欲界第六天）的一萬六千年，如果換算成人間的時間，是九百一十五俱胝六百萬年。』
尊者大目犍連聽了佛的說法后
【English Translation】 English version: A Bhikkhuni (female monastic) who, through intoxication, violates the precepts, is without shame or remorse, and disregards the monastic rules, commits a Pācittiya (a minor offense). Upon death, that person will be reborn in hell, with a lifespan equivalent to two thousand years in the Yāma heaven (the third heaven of the desire realm), which is fourteen koṭis (ten million) and four million years in human reckoning.
Reverend Mahāmaudgalyāyana (one of the Buddha's chief disciples) said to the Buddha: 'Venerable One! If there are Bhikkhus (male monastics) or Bhikkhunis who, through intoxication, violate the precepts, are without shame or remorse, and disregard the monastic rules, committing a Thullaccaya (a moderate offense), what kind of merit will they receive?'
The Blessed One told Reverend Mahāmaudgalyāyana: 'If there are Bhikkhus or Bhikkhunis who, through intoxication, violate the precepts, are without shame or remorse, and disregard the monastic rules, committing a Thullaccaya, that person, upon death, will be reborn in hell, with a lifespan equivalent to four thousand years in the Tuṣita heaven (the fourth heaven of the desire realm), which is fifty-seven koṭis and six hundred thousand years in human reckoning.'
Reverend Mahāmaudgalyāyana said to the Buddha: 'Venerable One! If there are Bhikkhus or Bhikkhunis who, through intoxication, violate the precepts, are without shame or remorse, and disregard the monastic rules, committing a Saṃghādisesa (a serious offense requiring communal confession), what kind of merit will they receive?'
The Blessed One told Reverend Mahāmaudgalyāyana: 'If there are Bhikkhus or Bhikkhunis who, through intoxication, violate the precepts, are without shame or remorse, and disregard the monastic rules, committing a Saṃghādisesa, that person, upon death, will be reborn in hell, with a lifespan equivalent to eight thousand years in the Nirmāṇarati heaven (the fifth heaven of the desire realm), which is two hundred and thirty koṭis and four million years in human reckoning.'
Reverend Mahāmaudgalyāyana said to the Buddha: 'Venerable One! If there are Bhikkhus or Bhikkhunis who, through intoxication, violate the precepts, are without shame or remorse, and disregard the monastic rules, committing a Pārājika (a defeating offense, leading to expulsion from the Sangha), what kind of merit will they receive?'
The Blessed One told Reverend Mahāmaudgalyāyana: 'If there are Bhikkhus or Bhikkhunis who, through intoxication, violate the precepts, are without shame or remorse, and disregard the monastic rules, committing a Pārājika, that person, upon death, will be reborn in hell, with a lifespan equivalent to sixteen thousand years in the Paranirmita-vaśavartin heaven (the sixth heaven of the desire realm), which is nine hundred and fifteen koṭis and six million years in human reckoning.'
