佛說五恐怖世經

宋居士沮渠京聲譯

聞如是:

一時佛在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園。佛告諸比丘:「有五當來恐怖,未到、未成、且來不久、可畏。當善思惟,以方便遠離之。何謂五?

「一者謂后當來比丘,身無行無戒、意不拘、無慧從身。自無行無戒、意不拘至無慧內。彼人為學至與大戒,從其學以師之,自可戒、自從意、自明慧。本從上學類,至後學者,法先頭學如上,從后毀律、言謗法經、真慧所遠。比丘!是為第一未來恐怖可畏,且來不久,當善思惟方便避之。

「二者謂后當來比丘,身無行無戒、意不拘、無慧。為彼稱說有藏寶,以非次、內無戒,違尊令彼學,謂從是可到岸,為以遠流。是為第二未來可畏,且來不久,當善思惟方便避之。

「三者謂后當來比丘,身無行無戒、意不拘、無慧。本無明師受不正法,比丘從受法,失法律義。是為第三未來可畏,且來不久,當善思惟方便避之。

「四者后當來比丘,身無行無戒、意不拘、無慧。從身無行無戒、意不拘、無慧比丘聚會講律說義,后語現之在中、中語現之在後,從是失明就冥,不能自覺遠離正法。是為第

我聽聞是這樣的:

一時,佛陀在舍衛國祇樹給孤獨園(Jetavana Anathapindika-arama in Sravasti)。佛陀告訴眾比丘:『有五種未來的恐怖,尚未到來、尚未形成,但很快就會到來,令人畏懼。應當好好思考,用方便法遠離它們。什麼是這五種恐怖呢?』

『第一種是說,未來將有比丘,自身沒有修行,沒有戒律,心意放縱,沒有智慧。自身沒有修行,沒有戒律,心意放縱,內心沒有智慧。這些人爲了學習,甚至接受大戒,跟隨他們的老師學習,自身卻可以破戒,放縱心意,不明事理。原本從優秀的學派開始學習,到後來的學習者,一開始學習的法和上面說的一樣,後來卻毀壞戒律,用言語誹謗佛法經典,遠離真正的智慧。比丘們!這是第一種未來恐怖,令人畏懼,很快就會到來,應當好好思考用方便法避開它。』

『第二種是說,未來將有比丘,自身沒有修行,沒有戒律,心意放縱,沒有智慧。他們自稱擁有寶藏,卻不按次第傳授,內心沒有戒律,違背尊長的教令,讓跟隨他們學習的人,以為從他們那裡可以到達彼岸,實際上卻讓他們越漂越遠。這是第二種未來恐怖,令人畏懼,很快就會到來,應當好好思考用方便法避開它。』

『第三種是說,未來將有比丘,自身沒有修行,沒有戒律,心意放縱,沒有智慧。原本沒有明師,接受不正的佛法,比丘們跟隨他們學習佛法,喪失了戒律的意義。這是第三種未來恐怖,令人畏懼,很快就會到來,應當好好思考用方便法避開它。』

『第四種是說,未來將有比丘,自身沒有修行,沒有戒律,心意放縱,沒有智慧。和自身沒有修行,沒有戒律,心意放縱,沒有智慧的比丘們聚在一起,講解戒律,宣說佛法的意義,把後面的話放在前面說,把前面的話放在後面說,因此失去光明而走向黑暗,不能自覺,遠離正法。這是第四種未來恐怖,令人畏懼,很快就會到來,應當好好思考用方便法避開它。』

【English Translation】 English version The Sutra on the Five Terrors of the World, Spoken by the Buddha

Thus have I heard:

At one time, the Buddha was in Jeta's Grove, Anathapindika's Park (Jetavana Anathapindika-arama) in Sravasti. The Buddha told the Bhikkhus: 'There are five future terrors, not yet arrived, not yet formed, but coming soon, which are dreadful. You should contemplate them well and use expedient means to avoid them. What are the five?'

'The first is that in the future there will be Bhikkhus who have no practice, no precepts, unrestrained minds, and no wisdom. They themselves have no practice, no precepts, unrestrained minds, and no wisdom within. These people, in order to learn, even receive the great precepts, following their teachers to learn, but they themselves can break the precepts, indulge their minds, and are not enlightened. Originally learning from excellent schools, later learners, the Dharma they initially learn is the same as above, but later they destroy the precepts, slander the Dharma scriptures with words, and are far from true wisdom. Bhikkhus! This is the first future terror, dreadful, coming soon, you should contemplate well and use expedient means to avoid it.'

'The second is that in the future there will be Bhikkhus who have no practice, no precepts, unrestrained minds, and no wisdom. They claim to have treasures, but do not transmit them in the proper order, have no precepts within, violate the commands of the elders, and lead those who follow them to learn, thinking that they can reach the other shore from them, but in reality, they make them drift further and further away. This is the second future terror, dreadful, coming soon, you should contemplate well and use expedient means to avoid it.'

'The third is that in the future there will be Bhikkhus who have no practice, no precepts, unrestrained minds, and no wisdom. Originally without enlightened teachers, they receive incorrect Dharma, and the Bhikkhus who follow them to learn the Dharma lose the meaning of the precepts. This is the third future terror, dreadful, coming soon, you should contemplate well and use expedient means to avoid it.'

'The fourth is that in the future there will be Bhikkhus who have no practice, no precepts, unrestrained minds, and no wisdom. They gather together with Bhikkhus who have no practice, no precepts, unrestrained minds, and no wisdom, lecturing on the precepts and explaining the meaning of the Dharma, putting the later words before and the former words after, thus losing the light and going into darkness, unable to awaken themselves, and distancing themselves from the true Dharma. This is the fourth future terror, dreadful, coming soon, you should contemplate well and use expedient means to avoid it.'


四未來可畏,且來不久,當善思惟方便避之。

「五者后當來比丘,身無行無戒、意不拘、無慧。從身無行無戒、意不拘、無慧,世之所造巧言放語悉受意善,見彼誦之意為悅樂;尊所說合十二因緣苦空非常,意態不樂悉舍不受,聞彼之說意疑不然亦不悅喜。是為第五未來可畏,且來不久,當善思惟方便避之。」

佛說如是。

『第五種情況是,未來將有比丘出現,他們行為不端、沒有戒律、心無約束、沒有智慧。由於他們行為不端、沒有戒律、心無約束、沒有智慧,世俗之人所製造的巧妙言辭和放縱之語,他們都樂於接受,並且樂於誦讀;而對於尊者所說的符合十二因緣的苦、空、無常之理,他們卻心生不悅,全部捨棄不接受,聽到這些道理,他們心生疑惑,不以為然,也不歡喜。』這就是第五種未來令人畏懼的情況,這種情況很快就會到來,我們應當認真思考如何避免它。

佛陀如是說。

【English Translation】 English version: The fourth future danger is that it will come soon, and we should carefully consider ways to avoid it.

『The fifth is that future Bhikkhus (monks) will come who are without conduct, without precepts, unrestrained in mind, and without wisdom. Because they are without conduct, without precepts, unrestrained in mind, and without wisdom, they readily accept and delight in the skillful words and licentious language created by the world; but they are displeased with and reject the words of the venerable ones that accord with the twelve links of dependent origination, suffering, emptiness, and impermanence. Hearing these teachings, they doubt them, disagree with them, and are not pleased. This is the fifth future danger, and it will come soon, and we should carefully consider ways to avoid it.』

The Buddha spoke thus.
