爾時世尊告諸苾芻。我今稱揚八大靈塔名號。汝等諦聽。當爲汝說。何等為八。所謂第一迦毗羅城龍彌你園是佛生處。第二摩伽陀國泥連河邊菩提樹下佛證道果處。第三迦尸國波羅柰城轉大法輪處。第四舍衛國祇陀園現大神通處。第五曲女城從忉利天下降處。第六王舍城聲聞分別佛為化度處。第七廣嚴城靈塔思念壽量處。第八拘尸那城娑羅林內大雙樹間入涅槃處。如是八大靈塔。重說頌曰。

凈飯王都迦毗城　　龍彌你園佛生處　摩伽陀泥連河側　　菩提樹下成正覺　迦尸國波羅柰城　　轉大法輪十二行　舍衛大城祇園內　　遍滿三界現神通　桑迦尸國曲女城　　忉利天宮而降下　王舍大城僧分別　　如來善化行慈悲　廣嚴大城靈塔中　　如來思念壽量處　拘尸那城大力地　　娑羅雙樹入涅槃

如是八大靈塔。若有婆羅門及善男子善女人等。發大信心修建塔廟承事供養。是人得大利益。獲大果報。具大稱讚。名聞普遍甚深廣大。乃至諸苾芻亦應當學。

複次諸苾芻。若有凈信善男子善女人

爾時，世尊告訴各位比丘：『我現在稱揚八大靈塔的名號，你們仔細聽，我將為你們解說。』哪八大靈塔呢？第一是迦毗羅城（Kapilavastu）的龍彌你園（Lumbini），是佛陀出生的地方。第二是摩伽陀國（Magadha）尼連河（Nairanjana River）邊菩提樹下，是佛陀證得道果的地方。第三是迦尸國（Kashi）波羅柰城（Varanasi），是佛陀初轉法輪的地方。第四是舍衛國（Shravasti）祇陀園（Jetavana），是佛陀顯現大神通的地方。第五是曲女城（Sankasya），是佛陀從忉利天（Trayastrimsa Heaven）下降的地方。第六是王舍城（Rajgir），是聲聞弟子們分別佛陀教化的地方。第七是廣嚴城（Vaishali）靈塔，是佛陀思念壽量的地方。第八是拘尸那城（Kushinagar）娑羅林內大雙樹間，是佛陀入涅槃的地方。這就是八大靈塔。』世尊又以偈頌重述：

凈飯王都迦毗羅城，龍彌你園是佛生處。摩伽陀國尼連河側，菩提樹下成正覺。迦尸國波羅柰城，轉大法輪十二行。舍衛大城祇陀園內，遍滿三界現神通。桑迦尸國曲女城，忉利天宮而降下。王舍大城僧分別，如來善化行慈悲。廣嚴大城靈塔中，如來思念壽量處。拘尸那城大力地，娑羅雙樹入涅槃。

『如是八大靈塔，若有婆羅門（Brahmin）以及善男子、善女人等，發起大信心，修建塔廟，虔誠供養，這個人將獲得大利益，獲得大果報，具備大稱讚，名聲傳遍，非常深廣。乃至各位比丘也應當學習。』

『再者，各位比丘，若有具凈信的善男子、善女人……』

The Sutra of the Names of the Eight Great Stupas Spoken by the Buddha

Translated by the Tripitaka Master Fa Xian, Minister of the Guanglu Temple and Grand Master of Mingjiao Temple, under Imperial Order from the Western Heaven

At that time, the World Honored One told the Bhikshus (monks): 'I will now proclaim the names of the Eight Great Stupas. Listen attentively, and I will explain them to you.' What are the eight? The first is Lumbini Garden in Kapilavastu (Kapilavastu), the place where the Buddha was born. The second is under the Bodhi tree by the Nairanjana River (Nairanjana River) in Magadha (Magadha), the place where the Buddha attained enlightenment. The third is Varanasi (Varanasi) in Kashi (Kashi), the place where the Buddha first turned the Wheel of Dharma. The fourth is Jetavana (Jetavana) in Shravasti (Shravasti), the place where the Buddha displayed great miracles. The fifth is Sankasya (Sankasya), the place where the Buddha descended from the Trayastrimsa Heaven (Trayastrimsa Heaven). The sixth is Rajgir (Rajgir), the place where the Sravakas (disciples) distinguished the Buddha's teachings. The seventh is the stupa in Vaishali (Vaishali), the place where the Buddha contemplated his lifespan. Kapilavastu, the capital of King Suddhodana, Lumbini Garden, the Buddha's birthplace. By the side of the Nairanjana River in Magadha, under the Bodhi tree, he attained perfect enlightenment. Varanasi in Kashi, he turned the Great Wheel of Dharma twelve times. Within Jetavana in the great city of Shravasti, he manifested supernatural powers throughout the three realms. Sankasya in the country of Samkasya, he descended from the Trayastrimsa Heaven. In the great city of Rajgir, the Sangha distinguished, the Tathagata's skillful teachings and compassionate actions. In the stupa in the great city of Vaishali, the Tathagata contemplated his lifespan. Kushinagar, the place of great strength, between the twin Sala trees, he entered Nirvana.

'These are the Eight Great Stupas. If there are Brahmins (Brahmin), virtuous men, or virtuous women who generate great faith, build stupas and temples, and make offerings with reverence, these people will obtain great benefits, great rewards, and great praise. Their names will be widely known, and their merit will be profound and vast. Even the Bhikshus should learn this.'

'Furthermore, Bhikshus, if there are virtuous men or virtuous women with pure faith...'

。能於此八大靈塔。向此生中至誠供養。是人命終速生天界。

爾時世尊復告諸苾芻。汝等諦聽我今當說。游止國城及於住世。而說頌曰。

二十九載處王宮　　六年雪山修苦行　五歲王舍城化度　　四年在於毗沙林　二年惹里巖安居　　二十三載止舍衛　廣嚴城及鹿野苑　　摩拘梨與忉利天　尸輸那及憍睒彌　　寶塔山頂並大野　尾努聚落吠蘭帝　　凈飯王都迦毗城　此等聖境各一年　　釋迦如來而行住　如是八十年住也　　然後牟尼入涅槃

這時，世尊又告訴各位比丘：『你們仔細聽著，我現在要說佛陀遊歷過的國都和住世的情況。』並以偈頌說道：

『二十九年居住在王宮，六年于雪山中修苦行，五年在王舍城教化眾生，四年在毗沙林（Vishālin）居住，兩年在惹里巖（Jarri Rock）安居，二十三年住在舍衛城（Śrāvastī），廣嚴城（Vaiśālī）以及鹿野苑（Sārnāth），摩拘梨（Makula）以及忉利天（Trāyastriṃśa），尸輸那（Śiśunāga）以及憍睒彌（Kauśāmbī），寶塔山頂以及大野，尾努聚落（Venu Village），吠蘭帝（Veranti），凈飯王（Śuddhodana）的都城迦毗羅衛城（Kapilavastu）。這些聖地各住一年，釋迦如來（Śākyamuni）如此行走居住，這樣八十年住世之後，然後牟尼（Muni）入涅槃。』

【English Translation】 English version: If one can offer sincere worship to these eight great sacred stupas, that person, upon death, will quickly be reborn in the heavens.

At that time, the World Honored One further told the bhikshus (bhikkhus): 'Listen carefully, I will now speak of the kingdoms and cities the Buddha traveled to and the circumstances of his life in this world.' And he spoke in verse:

'For twenty-nine years he resided in the royal palace, for six years he practiced asceticism in the Himalayas, for five years he taught and transformed beings in Rājagṛha (King's Abode), for four years he resided in Vishālin (Vishālin Forest), for two years he dwelt in Jarri Rock (Jarri Rock), for twenty-three years he stayed in Śrāvastī (Śrāvastī), Vaiśālī (Wide and Majestic City) and Sārnāth (Deer Park), Makula (Makula) and Trāyastriṃśa (Heaven of the Thirty-three), Śiśunāga (Śiśunāga) and Kauśāmbī (Kauśāmbī), the summit of the Jewel Stupa Mountain and the Great Wilderness, Venu Village (Venu Village), Veranti (Veranti), the capital city of King Śuddhodana (Pure Rice King), Kapilavastu (Kapilavastu).
