明皛所述
若夫大道無邊非隘行之能尋。至理深玄非淺智之所識。如以局情入道。道非局入。執教求理。理非執求。要以無方大行始可稱道。孱空圓智迥會理矣。故請將來君子同懷寄筌之意。
歸命盡十方 法界中三寶 我欲報佛恩 略演契經義 普令眾生類 得大涅槃樂 愿慈加護念 滿我本誓願
論曰。有大三昧。名曰海印。速令行者至不退地。用小方便獲大利益。其印之內要義偈頌名陀羅尼。總持一切契經要義。普含一切諸佛功德。然陀羅尼略有二種。一法。二義。法中有三。謂體智用。所言體者。謂諸眾生根本一心。是心本來自性清凈。不增不減。不生不滅。曠大無邊猶如虛空。總持一切世出世法。無不攝故。所言智者。謂如來地理量二智。無理不照無事不達。總持一切無邊功德。無不攝故。所言用者。謂如來地應化二身。普應法界教化眾生。盡未來際化用無竭。總持一切世出世間所有諸法。無不攝故。所言義者。謂摩訶衍圓教所顯廣大妙義。總持十方三世諸佛秘密法藏。無不攝故。如是二種陀羅尼門各攝無量塵沙法門。相容無礙

如果認為大道是無邊無際的,就不能用狹隘的行為去尋求它;如果認為至理是深奧玄妙的,就不能用淺薄的智慧去認識它。如果用侷限的情感來進入道,道就不是侷限的進入;如果執著于教義來尋求真理,真理就不是執著的尋求。一定要用無所拘束的廣大行為,才可以稱之為道。用空性的圓滿智慧,才能完全領會真理。所以,請未來的君子們,和我一樣懷著得魚忘筌的心意。

論中說:有一種偉大的三昧(Samadhi,禪定),名為海印三昧(Ocean Seal Samadhi)。能迅速使修行者到達不退轉地(Avivartana,不退轉的境界),用微小的方便獲得巨大的利益。這海印三昧之中,重要的意義用偈頌和真言(Dharani,總持)來表達,總持一切契經(Sutra,佛經)的要義,普遍包含一切諸佛的功德。然而,陀羅尼(Dharani,總持)略有二種:一是法,二是義。法中有三:即體、智、用。所謂體,是指一切眾生的根本一心。這顆心本來就是自性清凈的,不增加也不減少,不產生也不消滅,廣闊無邊猶如虛空,總持一切世間和出世間的法,沒有不包含的。所謂智,是指如來(Tathagata,佛)的地理量二智,沒有道理不照見,沒有事情不通達,總持一切無邊的功德,沒有不包含的。所謂用,是指如來(Tathagata,佛)的應化二身,普遍應現於法界(Dharmadhatu,宇宙),教化眾生,直到未來永無止境,總持一切世間和出世間所有諸法,沒有不包含的。所謂義,是指摩訶衍(Mahayana,大乘)圓教所顯現的廣大妙義,總持十方三世諸佛的秘密法藏,沒有不包含的。像這兩種陀羅尼門,各自包含無量無數的法門,互相包容,沒有障礙。

If one considers the Great Path to be boundless, it cannot be sought through narrow practices; if one considers the ultimate truth to be profound and mysterious, it cannot be understood through shallow wisdom. If one enters the Path with limited emotions, the Path is not a limited entry; if one clings to teachings to seek truth, truth is not sought through clinging. It is necessary to use unrestrained, vast practices to be able to call it the Path. With empty, complete wisdom, one can fully comprehend the truth. Therefore, I invite future gentlemen to share the intention of 'forgetting the fish trap once the fish is caught,' just as I do.
Taking refuge in the Three Jewels (Triratna) throughout the ten directions and the Dharmadhatu (universe) I wish to repay the Buddha's kindness by briefly expounding the meaning of the Sutras (teachings of the Buddha) May all sentient beings attain the joy of great Nirvana (liberation) May your compassion protect and remember us, fulfilling my original vows
The treatise states: There is a great Samadhi (meditative state) called Ocean Seal Samadhi (Haiyin Sanmei). It quickly enables practitioners to reach the state of non-retrogression (Avivartana), obtaining great benefits with small efforts. Within this 'seal,' the essential meanings are expressed through verses and Dharani (mantras), which comprehensively hold the essential meanings of all Sutras, universally containing the merits of all Buddhas. However, Dharani are roughly of two types: one is Dharma (law), and the other is meaning. Within Dharma, there are three aspects: essence, wisdom, and function. The so-called essence refers to the fundamental one mind of all sentient beings. This mind is originally pure in nature, neither increasing nor decreasing, neither arising nor ceasing, vast and boundless like space, comprehensively holding all worldly and supramundane Dharmas, without anything not included. The so-called wisdom refers to the two wisdoms of the Tathagata (Buddha) – the wisdom of principle and the wisdom of measure – illuminating all principles and understanding all matters, comprehensively holding all boundless merits, without anything not included. The so-called function refers to the two bodies of the Tathagata (Buddha) – the responsive body and the manifested body – universally appearing in the Dharmadhatu (universe), teaching and transforming sentient beings, continuing endlessly into the future, comprehensively holding all worldly and supramundane Dharmas, without anything not included. The so-called meaning refers to the vast and wonderful meanings revealed by the perfect teaching of Mahayana (Great Vehicle), comprehensively holding the secret Dharma treasury of all Buddhas of the ten directions and three times, without anything not included. These two types of Dharani gates each contain countless Dharma gates, accommodating each other without obstruction.

【English Translation】 English version They interpenetrate each other. Entering one gate, one becomes all-knowing, fully understanding all the Dharma doors as numerous as dust motes. Entering the realm of the Buddha, one attains fearlessness. As the verse in the scripture says, 'In one, understand the immeasurable; in the immeasurable, understand the one.' This transformation is not ultimately real; the wise are therefore fearless. These two Dharani (mantra) doors, and even the immeasurable Dharma doors as numerous as dust motes, all enter within the Haiyin Sanmei (Ocean Seal Samadhi). It is like all the waters under heaven flowing into the great ocean, with no stream not being received. The Haiyin Sanmei is also like this, fully receiving all the Sutra waters spoken by all the Buddhas. It is like in the sky, the sun, moon, stars, celestial palaces, the armies of the Asuras (demi-gods), and the troops led by Ti-shih (Indra), all clearly appear in the waters of the great ocean. The Haiyin Sanmei is also like this, with the immeasurable and boundless Dharma realm of all the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and holy assembly appearing within it. The meaning of the Dharani should be understood as in the following verse. If one wishes to recite it, begin with the character born from the corner of the seal, following the turning of the seal's inscription, circling around until Nirvana (liberation). 【現代漢語翻譯】 現代漢語譯本: 此法能開啟一切菩薩的智慧之眼,能成就一切菩薩的願望。所有修行者,想要往生凈土,應當依照此法門唸唸修習,一切時中不要間斷。依此法修行的人,用小的方便就能迅速達到佛果。譬如有人乘船入海,想要到達彼岸,得到好的順風,用小的方便就能迅速到達彼岸。依此法修行的人,行住坐臥一切時中恒常進入滅定。依此法修行的人,不久就能得到不礙忍地。有如此等等種種利益,乃至諸佛住無數劫也說不盡。三世諸佛秘密法藏沒有超過此陀羅尼頌的。若有修行者想要迅速證得無上菩提,應當先發起廣大的妙愿,對於一切眾生生起大慈悲心,對於善知識生起難遭遇想,敬重三寶,破除我慢,依照大乘經典至誠懺悔一切罪障,然後專心尋求大善知識,請教佛法要義。聽聞佛法后,繫念思惟,如所說而修行,一切時中沒有間斷之心。若能如此,不久就能進入陀羅尼門。如上所說的海印三昧出自《華嚴經·十地品》中,其印像是用義理來安立的,其頌文是總述一部經中的要義而作的偈頌。什麼是『印道無始終』呢?想要顯示一道遠離三世的邊際,前際后際都不可攝取。什麼是『印道有盤曲』呢?想要顯示一道隨順因緣,適應根機,應三乘行而顯現差別。以什麼意義五十六個角共同組成印呢?想要顯示地前四十心位以及十地、等覺、妙覺,如此五十二位的人等都依一道而修四攝來度化眾生。五十二個角代表這五十二種人。其餘四個角,代表四攝。十信位中仰信一道四攝法,十解位中信解一道四攝法,十行位中信行一道四攝行,十回向中解行都圓滿而行一道四攝行。
【English Translation】 English version: This (Dharani) can open the wisdom eyes of all Bodhisattvas and fulfill all the wishes of Bodhisattvas. All practitioners who wish to be reborn in the Pure Land should practice and study this Dharma door with mindfulness at all times without interruption. Those who practice this Dharma will quickly attain Buddhahood with little effort. For example, if someone takes a boat to cross the sea to the other shore, they can quickly reach the other shore with little effort if they get a good tailwind. Those who practice this Dharma will constantly enter the Samadhi of Cessation at all times, whether walking, standing, sitting, or lying down. Those who practice this Dharma will soon attain the Land of Unimpeded Endurance. There are such various benefits that even if all Buddhas spoke for countless kalpas, they could not exhaust them. There is no secret Dharma treasure of the Buddhas of the three times that surpasses this Dharani verse. If a practitioner wishes to quickly advance to unsurpassed Bodhi, they should first make vast and wonderful vows, generate great compassion for all sentient beings, regard good teachers as rare encounters, respect the Three Jewels, break down their arrogance, and sincerely repent of all karmic obstacles according to the Mahayana Sutras. Then, they should wholeheartedly seek great virtuous teachers and inquire about the essentials of the Dharma. After hearing the Dharma, they should contemplate and meditate on it, and practice as instructed, without interruption at all times. If they can do this, they will soon enter the Dharani door. The Samadhi of the Ocean Seal mentioned above comes from the 'Ten Grounds' chapter of the Avatamsaka Sutra. The image of the seal is established with meaning, and the verse is a summary of the essential meanings of the entire Sutra. What does it mean by 'the seal of the Path has no beginning or end'? It means to show that the One Path is far from the boundaries of the three times, and the past and future boundaries cannot be grasped. What does it mean by 'the seal of the Path has twists and turns'? It means to show that the One Path adapts to conditions and suits the capacities of beings, manifesting differences according to the practices of the Three Vehicles. What is the meaning of the fifty-six angles forming the seal together? It means to show the forty mind-states before the grounds, as well as the Ten Grounds, Equal Enlightenment (Samantabhadra), and Wonderful Enlightenment (Buddhahood). These fifty-two types of people all rely on the One Path and practice the Four Embracing Dharmas (Catuh-saṃgrahavastu) to liberate sentient beings. The fifty-two angles represent these fifty-two types of people. The remaining four angles represent the Four Embracing Dharmas. In the Ten Faiths stage, they believe in and rely on the One Path and the Four Embracing Dharmas. In the Ten Understandings stage, they believe in and understand the One Path and the Four Embracing Dharmas. In the Ten Practices stage, they believe in and practice the One Path and the Four Embracing Practices. In the Ten Dedications stage, understanding and practice are both complete, and they practice the One Path and the Four Embracing Practices.
故。十地位中及等覺位正證一道行四攝故。妙覺位中究竟圓證一道根原。盡未來際以四攝法化眾生故。云何頌中縱橫同有十四字者。欲顯菩薩行雖無量種不離於十波羅蜜四攝行故。十方無邊一切世界諸菩薩等。皆依此行為根本故。云何頌中有始終者。為欲安慰怯弱菩薩。佛道雖遠修行不絕。終歸成佛勿退行故。云何頌首及與頌末俱處中者。欲顯初心所習正觀不異如來正觀智故。云何縱橫四圍循讀皆失句者。欲顯甚深陀羅尼義。非斷常見及邊見人所能知故。云何從中尋得句者。欲顯甚深陀羅尼義中道正觀乃能知故。云何印外更無頌者。欲顯佛教雖越塵沙不離一道。一道以外更無法故。云何不釋頌中義者。欲令行者于少文中多解義故。恐諸行者棄本逐末貪數文句失大益故。如經中言。寧以少聞多解義味。不願多聞于義不了。欲驗行者得利多少根機深淺行生熟故。欲令小見憍慢眾生於正法中生重心故。然此深義非九種人所知境界。何等為九。一非凡夫所知境界。二非世智辨聰境界。三非分別法相境界。四非聲聞緣覺境界。五非空見行者境界。六非散心多聞境界。七非邊見眾生境界。八非斷見眾生境界。九非常見眾生境界。如是等輩互相嫌言。我智則勝彼智必弱。唯我獨能盡解佛法。如是等輩甚可憐愍。於五尺身起長大我。將
方寸意量虛空盡。亦如小兒蠡杯酌海。謂言唯我量大海盡。小見眾生度量佛法亦復如是。彼等若不破除我慢。不悔本心。難可教示。設使口誦不會深理。縱使多聞唯長憍慢。徒勞無益。如經偈言。譬如貧窮人日夜數他寶。自無半錢分。多聞亦如是。有如是等種種眾生。欲護彼故更不釋義。恐彼惡見轉加增長。永沈苦海無出期故。如經偈言。破法不信故墜於三惡道。我寧不說法。疾入于涅槃。如上所說。陀羅尼義是無邊行等法界智所知境界。如經偈言。游心法界如虛空。是人乃知佛境界。以何義故存其本者。欲顯正法畢竟常住三世諸佛共所依故。譬如繩墨是常法則前匠后匠共所依故。複次欲令假名菩薩舍末尋本達本原故。欲令正法常住不滅法光恒照畢竟不絕破除眾生無明闇故。欲令眾生世世生處佛種不斷故存本也。契經要義略述如是。欲盡其原唯佛窮了。但仰信解讚揚教耳。欲發弘願。以偈贊曰。
佛法甚廣大 量同於虛空 我已所述義 如一毛孔分 所述諸功德 普施眾生類 速登十地位 皆共成佛果
