竊惟總持無文。越重玄于化表。秘詮有象。敷大用於域中。是以佛證離言。廓圓鏡無私之照。教傅密語。呈神功必效之靈。一字包羅。統千門之妙理。多言沖邃。總五部之旨歸。眾德所依群生攸仰。持之則通心於當念。誦之則滅累於此生。妙矣哉。脫流幻之三有。拔險趣之七重。躋蓮社之凈方。掃云朦之沙界。促三祇于頃刻五智克彰。圓六度于剎那十身頓滿。其功大其德圓。巍巍乎不可得而思議也。以茲秘典方其餘教。則妙高之落眾峰。靈耀之掩群照矣。宗壽夙累所鐘久纏疾療。湯砭之暇覺雄是依。爰用祈叩真慈懺摩既往。虔資萬善整滌襟靈。謹錄諸經神驗秘咒。以為一集。遂命題曰密咒圓因往生焉。然欲事廣傳通利兼幽顯。故命西域之高僧東夏之真侶。校詳三複華梵兩書。雕印流通永規不朽云爾。時大夏天慶七年。歲次庚申孟秋望日。中書相賀宗壽謹序。

持誦神咒儀

夫欲誦持陀羅尼

神咒者。先須歸依三寶。發大菩提心已。然後依法持念真言。今依五字陀羅尼法。唸誦神咒有其四種一者三摩地念。謂觀所念明咒。本尊口中流出光明。入自口中右旋安布心月輪中。如水精珠佈於明鏡之上。心準念此是也。二者言意念。謂依前心月觀諸咒字。口中出聲不高不下不緩不急。如是而念。所出聲勢猶如搖鈴是也。三者金剛念。謂依前入于字觀。密合唇齒。小令其舌微動而念是也。四者降魔念。謂內以悲心為本。外現威怒之相。顰眉厲聲而念是也。如是四種雖有差別。不離一念為無二也。又有二種。一無數持念。謂不持念珠不定時數。行住坐臥恒常持念。二有數持念。謂手掏數珠限定時數。或百或千隨應持念。若人誦持秘密神咒。要應依師依經而受持之。然需求于曉梵音者。指決字句不令訛轉。一一分明專志持誦。於前四種念法隨取其一。依法念誦無有間斷。所祈勝果決得成就。

金剛大輪明王咒

【English Translation】 English version: Regarding the practice of divine mantras, one must first take refuge in the Three Jewels (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha) and generate the great Bodhicitta (the aspiration for enlightenment for the benefit of all beings). Then, according to the ritual, one should recite the mantra. Now, according to the Five-Syllable Dharani method, there are four ways to recite the divine mantra: The first is Samadhi Recitation: Visualize the clear mantra being recited, emanating light from the mouth of the principal deity (the Buddha or Bodhisattva being visualized), entering one's own mouth, and then rotating clockwise to be placed within the heart moon disc (the moon visualized in the heart), like crystal beads arranged on a clear mirror. Focus the mind on this visualization and recite. The second is Vocal-Intent Recitation: According to the previous method, visualize each mantra syllable in the heart moon disc, and utter sounds from the mouth, neither too high nor too low, neither too fast nor too slow. The sound produced should be like the sound of shaking a bell. The third is Vajra Recitation: According to the previous method, enter into the visualization of the syllables, close the lips and teeth tightly, and slightly move the tongue while reciting. The fourth is Subduing-Demons Recitation: Inwardly, take compassion as the foundation; outwardly, manifest a fierce and wrathful appearance, frowning and reciting in a stern voice. Although these four methods of recitation have differences, they are inseparable from one mind and are not different. There are also two types of recitation: one is Countless Recitation, which does not use prayer beads and does not fix the time or number of recitations. Whether walking, standing, sitting, or lying down, one constantly recites. The other is Counted Recitation, which uses prayer beads to count, limiting the time and number of recitations, either one hundred times or one thousand times, according to one's own situation. If someone recites a secret divine mantra, they must rely on a guru (spiritual teacher) and follow the scriptures to receive and practice it. And one needs to find someone who understands Sanskrit pronunciation to correct the syllables, so that there are no errors or changes, each one clear and focused on reciting. Among the aforementioned four methods of recitation, choose one at will, recite according to the ritual, without interruption, and the supreme results sought will surely be achieved. The Cloud of Recitation Methods of Akshobhya Buddha says:

By reciting this mantra, it is like re-entering the mandala. If one loses mindfulness and breaks the samadhi, whether Bodhisattvas or Śrāvakas, the two vows of body and speech, the four heavy offenses and five heinous crimes, all such sins and obstacles will be purified.

Also, the Amrita Kundali Bodhisattva Recitation Ritual says: Next, form the Vajra Wheel Bodhisattva mudra. By reciting the secret words to enter the mandala, one receives the three Bodhisattva vows that are unobstructed in the three worlds. By entering the mandala, body and mind are equipped with as many samayas as there are dust particles in ten micro-dust-particle-number worlds. Without performing prohibitions, or due to bending, stretching, looking up, looking down, speaking, exhaling, initiating thoughts, or forgetting the mind of Bodhi, one may lose good roots. With this mudra, secret words, and excellent skillful means, reciting and contemplating can remove transgressions and faults. The samaya remains as before, becoming even more radiant. Because it can purify body, speech, and mind, it becomes entering all mandalas and obtaining the samaya of empowerment (The mudra is formed by crossing the hands inward, raising the two index fingers straight and together, wrapping the two middle fingers around the first joints of the two index fingers, with the tips touching each other, and extending the two thumbs straight. Form the mudra at the heart and recite the secret words. If one has not entered the altar, one is not allowed to perform the ritual. With this mantra, one can immediately enter the altar and perform the ritual without committing theft of the Dharma).

Pure Dharma Realm Mantra:

Om lan

The Yoga Lotus Division Recitation Method says: If one touches an impure place, one should visualize the seed syllable 'lam' on the crown of the head, emitting red light. This 'lam' syllable should be added to all food, and it will not become impure. This syllable should be added to all offerings such as incense and flowers, emitting white light, and there will be no impurity. All offerings will pervade the Dharma Realm.

Manjushri's Body Protection Mantra:

Om chi ling

The Manjushri Fundamental One-Syllable Dharani Sutra says:


若誦此咒能消一切災障。一切惡夢一切怨敵。能滅五逆十惡一切罪業。能除一切惡邪咒法。亦能成辦一切善事。種種咒中是諸佛心。能令一切所愿皆得滿足。若發大心誦之一遍。即能守護自身。若誦兩遍。力能守護同伴。若誦三遍。力能守護一宅中人。若誦四遍。力能守護一城中人。若誦五遍。力能守護一國中人。若誦六遍。力能守護一天下人。若誦七遍。力能守護四天下人。

一字輪王咒

唵部林(直音沒隆云引)

末法中一字心咒經云。

佛告諸佛子  汝等今善聽  我今說此咒  具足諸功德  當來惡世時  我法將欲滅  能於此時中  護持我末法  能除世間惡  毒害諸鬼神  及諸天魔人  一切諸咒法  若聞此咒名  皆悉自摧伏  我滅度之後  布分舍利已  當隱諸相好  變身為此咒  佛有二種身  真身及化身  若能供養者  福德無有異  此咒亦如是  一切諸天人  能生希有心  受持及供養  所得諸功德  如我身無異  此咒王功德  我今但略說

三字總持咒

三字總持咒

唵 啞 吽

瑜伽大教王經云:唵字是大遍照如來(Mahavairocana),啞字是無量壽如來(Amitabha),吽字是阿閦如來(Akshobhya)。又成佛儀軌云:

由誦此唵字,加持威力故,縱觀想不成,

【English Translation】 English version: If one recites this mantra, it can eliminate all disasters and obstacles, all bad dreams, and all enemies. It can eradicate all sins of the five rebellious acts (killing one's father, killing one's mother, killing an Arhat, disrupting the Sangha's harmony, and drawing blood from a Buddha's body) and the ten evil deeds (killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, lying, divisive speech, harsh speech, idle chatter, greed, hatred, and wrong views). It can remove all evil and wicked spells. It can also accomplish all good deeds. Among all kinds of mantras, this mantra is the heart essence of all Buddhas, capable of fulfilling all wishes. If one generates a great mind and recites it once, it can protect oneself. If one recites it twice, its power can protect companions. If one recites it three times, its power can protect the people in one's household. If one recites it four times, its power can protect the people in one city. If one recites it five times, its power can protect the people in one country. If one recites it six times, its power can protect the people in one world. If one recites it seven times, its power can protect the people in the four great continents.

The One-Syllable Wheel King Mantra

Om Burim (Pronounced as 'Molong' with a drawn-out sound)

The Sutra of the One-Syllable Heart Mantra in the Dharma-Ending Age says:

The Buddha told all Buddha-sons, 'You should listen well now. I will now speak this mantra, which is complete with all merits. When the evil age comes in the future, and my Dharma is about to perish, it can, at this time, protect my Dharma in the Dharma-Ending Age. It can eliminate the evils of the world, the poisons that harm ghosts and spirits, as well as gods, demons, and humans, and all kinds of spells. If one hears the name of this mantra, all will be subdued by themselves. After my Parinirvana, after distributing the relics, I will conceal my auspicious marks and transform my body into this mantra. The Buddha has two kinds of bodies: the true body and the manifested body. If one can make offerings, the merit and virtue will be no different. This mantra is also like this. All gods and humans can generate a rare mind to uphold and make offerings. The merits and virtues obtained are no different from my own body. The merits and virtues of this mantra king, I will now only briefly describe.'

The Three-Syllable Dharani Mantra

Om Ah Hum

The Yoga Great Teaching King Sutra says: The syllable Om represents Mahavairocana Tathagata (大遍照如來), the syllable Ah represents Amitabha Tathagata (無量壽如來), and the syllable Hum represents Akshobhya Tathagata (阿閦如來). Furthermore, the Ritual for Attaining Buddhahood says:

By reciting this syllable Om, due to the power of its blessing, even if visualization is not successful,


于諸佛海會  諸供養雲海  真言具成就  由諸佛誠諦  法爾所成故  由適誦啞字  摧滅諸罪障  獲諸悅意樂  等同一切佛  超勝眾魔羅  不能為障礙  應受諸世間  廣大之供養  由吽字加持  虎狼諸毒蟲  噁心人非人  盡無能陵屈  如來初成佛  于菩提樹下  以此印密言  摧壞天魔眾

七俱胝佛母心大準提咒

捺麻。薩不怛(二合)喃(引)薩滅三莫[口*捺] 光(引)低(引)喃(引)怛涅達 唵 拶令足令 尊寧莎(引)訶(引)

準提陀羅尼經云。佛言此咒能滅十惡五逆一切罪障。成就一切白法功德。持此咒者。不問在家出家飲酒食肉有妻子等。不揀凈穢。但依我法無不成就。至心持誦。能使短命眾生增延壽命。及除無量病苦。迦摩羅疾尚得除差。何況余病若不消差無有是處。若誦此咒一百八遍。如是不絕滿四十九日。每有善惡吉祥災變。準提菩薩令二聖者常隨其人。所有善惡心之所念。皆于耳邊一一具報。又誦此咒。能令國王大臣長者婆羅門等。生愛敬心見即歡喜。隨其所愿悉得成就。若有無福無相。求官不遷貧苦所逼。常誦此咒。能令現世得輪王福。所求官位必當稱遂。若常持誦水不能溺火不能燒。毒藥刀兵冤家病苦皆不能害。又若依法

【English Translation】 English version Within the assemblies of all Buddhas, Clouds of offerings gather like seas, the power of mantra is perfectly accomplished. Due to the truthful vows of all Buddhas, all this is naturally accomplished. By reciting the syllable 'Ah', all karmic obstacles are destroyed, Obtaining all pleasing joys, equal to all Buddhas. Surpassing all Maras (Mara, meaning obstacles, disturbers), they cannot create any hindrance. One should receive the vast and boundless offerings of all sentient beings in the world. Due to the blessing of the syllable 'Hūṃ' (Hūṃ, seed syllable), even tigers, wolves, and various poisonous insects, Malicious people and non-humans (referring to the Eight Classes of beings, such as Devas and Nagas), are unable to violate or oppress. When the Tathāgata (Tathāgata, title of a Buddha) initially attained Buddhahood, under the Bodhi tree, Relying on this mudra and secret mantra, he destroyed the armies of the heavenly demons.

The Great Cundī (Cundī) Mantra, the Heart Mantra of Seven Kotis of Buddhas

Namo. Saptānām (saṃyaksaṃbuddha) koṭīnām (引) sarvasaṃkṣobhaṇānām (引) tārye tāṃ svāhā (引)

The Cundī Dhāraṇī Sutra says, the Buddha said this mantra can extinguish all karmic obstacles such as the ten evils and five rebellious acts, and accomplish all virtuous merits. Those who uphold this mantra, whether they are laypeople or monastics, even if they drink alcohol, eat meat, have spouses, etc., regardless of whether they are pure or impure, as long as they follow my method, there is nothing that cannot be accomplished. Sincerely and earnestly reciting it can enable short-lived beings to extend their lifespan and eliminate immeasurable suffering from illness. Even Kāmalā (Kāmalā, a severe form of jaundice) can be cured, let alone other illnesses; if they cannot be eliminated, that is absolutely impossible. If one recites this mantra one hundred and eight times, continuously for forty-nine days, whenever good or bad events, auspicious or disastrous occurrences happen, Cundī Bodhisattva (Cundī Bodhisattva) will dispatch two sages to constantly follow that person, and all good and bad thoughts will be reported to them one by one in their ear. Furthermore, reciting this mantra can cause kings, ministers, elders, Brahmins, etc., to generate loving respect, and upon seeing them, they will rejoice, and all their wishes will be fulfilled. If someone has no blessings, no good appearance, seeks official promotion unsuccessfully, and is oppressed by poverty, constantly reciting this mantra can enable them to obtain the blessings of a Chakravartin (Chakravartin, Wheel-Turning King) in this life, and the official position they seek will surely be fulfilled as desired. If one constantly upholds it, water cannot drown them, fire cannot burn them, poison, weapons, enemies, and the suffering of illness cannot harm them. If one practices according to the Dharma

《萬行首楞嚴經》中說,佛告訴阿難(佛陀的弟子)說:『這佛頂章句,能出生十方一切諸佛。十方如來依靠此咒心,得以成就無上正等正覺(最高的覺悟)。十方如來執持此咒心,降伏一切邪魔,制服一切外道。十方如來憑藉此咒心,安坐于寶蓮花之上,在微塵國土中轉大法輪(傳播佛法),摩頂授記(給予預言和祝福),拔除救濟眾生的苦難。』

『所謂地獄、餓鬼、畜生、盲、聾、瘖啞等,種種痛苦和橫禍,都能同時得到解脫。賊難、兵難、王難、獄難,以及飢渴貧窮,都能應念消散。如果我說此咒的功德,從早到晚音聲相連,字句之間也不重複,即使經過恒河沙數般的劫數,也終究不能說完。』

『如果各位眾生用紙張或白色細毛織物,書寫此咒,儲藏於香囊之中,即使此人心智昏昧,不能誦讀記憶,或者佩戴在身上,或者書寫在住宅中,應當知道此人盡其一生,一切毒害都不能侵犯。阿難,如果佛陀滅度后,末法時代的眾生,有能自己誦讀,或者教他人誦讀此咒的,水不能淹沒,火不能焚燒,大小毒氣進入此人口中,都會變成甘露美味。一切惡星、鬼神、毒人都不能加害。應當知道此咒,常有八萬四千那由他(極大的數字單位)恒河沙俱胝(極大的數字單位)金剛藏王菩薩種族,每一位都率領著諸金剛眾,作為眷屬。』

【English Translation】 English version: Reciting it fully one million times, one will then be able to go to the pure lands of the ten directions, experience serving all the Buddhas, hear the wonderful Dharma, and quickly attain Bodhi (enlightenment).

The Great Buddha Crown White Umbrella Heart Mantra

Namo sitātapatre aparājitāya sarva bhūtāvara nivāriṇi sarva pararājāya sarva duṣṭa graha nivāriṇi sarva bandhana mokṣaṇi sarva bhaya nivāriṇi catur aśītinām sarva duṣṭa nivāriṇi hūṃ hūṃ phaṭ phaṭ svāhā

The Śūraṅgama Sūtra of Ten Thousand Practices says: The Buddha told Ānanda (Buddha's disciple), 'This Buddha Crown verse brings forth all the Buddhas of the ten directions. The Tathāgatas of the ten directions, relying on this mantra-heart, are able to achieve Anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi (supreme perfect enlightenment). The Tathāgatas of the ten directions, holding this mantra-heart, subdue all demons and control all heretics. The Tathāgatas of the ten directions, riding this mantra-heart, sit upon jeweled lotus flowers, turn the great Dharma wheel (spread the Dharma) in lands as numerous as motes of dust, pat the crowns of beings to bestow predictions and blessings, and deliver and rescue beings from suffering.'

'So-called hell-beings, hungry ghosts, animals, the blind, deaf, mute, all kinds of suffering and calamities, can simultaneously be liberated. Calamities of thieves, calamities of war, calamities of kings, calamities of imprisonment, as well as hunger, thirst, and poverty, will all dissipate upon thought. If I were to speak of the merits of this mantra, from dawn until dusk, with a continuous stream of sound, without repeating a single word or phrase, even after eons as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, I would still not be able to exhaust them.'

'If all living beings use paper or white felt to write out this mantra and store it in a fragrant pouch, even if their minds are dull and they cannot recite or remember it, or if they wear it on their body or write it in their homes, they should know that throughout their lives, all poisons will be unable to harm them. Ānanda, if, after the Buddha's extinction, beings in the Dharma-ending age are able to recite it themselves or teach others to recite this mantra, water will not drown them, fire will not burn them, and all major and minor poisonous vapors entering their mouths will turn into the taste of sweet dew. All evil stars, ghosts, spirits, and poisonous people will be unable to cause harm. It should be known that this mantra is constantly attended by eighty-four thousand nayutas (extremely large numerical unit) of Ganges River sands of kotis (extremely large numerical unit) of Vajra Treasury King Bodhisattva lineages, each of whom leads a retinue of Vajra beings as attendants.'

【English Translation】 English version They attend day and night. If there are sentient beings who, with distracted minds, not with minds in Samadhi [concentration], remember and recite this mantra, these Vajra-garbha Kings [Treasury of Vajra] will always follow them. How much more so those who are determined to have Bodhi-citta [the mind of enlightenment]? These Vajra-garbha Kings will carefully and quickly awaken their consciousness, so that these people will immediately be able to remember events from eighty-four thousand Ganges sands kalpas, knowing them completely without doubt. They will not be born in poverty or unpleasant places kalpa after kalpa. Even if these sentient beings do not perform meritorious deeds themselves, all the merits of the Tathagatas of the ten directions will be given to them. Therefore, they will be able to be born in the same place as the Buddhas for Ganges sands Asamkhya [innumerable] unspeakable unspeakable kalpas. Limitless merits will gather together like Aksha [Indian fruit], cultivating together in the same place, never to be separated. Therefore, this mantra can purify the root of precepts for those who have broken them, cause those who have not received precepts to receive them, cause those who are not diligent to become diligent, cause those who have no wisdom to gain wisdom, cause those who are impure to quickly become pure, and cause those who do not observe fasts to naturally accomplish them. When this good man holds this mantra, even if he has violated precepts before receiving them, after holding the mantra, all sins of breaking precepts, whether light or heavy, will be eliminated at once. Even if he drinks alcohol, eats the five pungent roots, and engages in various impure acts, all the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Vajras, celestial beings, and spirits will not consider it a fault. Even if he does not set up an altar, does not enter a temple, and does not practice the Way, reciting and holding this mantra will have the same merit as entering an altar and practicing the Way. If he has committed the five heinous crimes (Panca anantarya) [killing father, killing mother, killing an Arhat, disrupting the Sangha, shedding the blood of a Buddha] and the heavy crime of Avici [Avici hell], as well as the four Parajika [defeat] and eight Sanghavasesa [formal meeting] offenses of Bhikshus and Bhikshunis, after reciting this mantra, these heavy karmas will be like a sand dune blown away by a strong wind, completely eliminated without a trace. If there are sentient beings who, from limitless kalpas, have all kinds of light and heavy karmic obstacles, and have not had time to repent from previous lives, if they can read, recite, and write this mantra, carry it on their bodies, or reside in their houses, gardens, and mansions, these accumulated karmas will be like hot water melting snow, and they will soon attain the Anutpattika-dharma-kshanti [patience with the unproduced]. If there are women who have not given birth to sons or daughters and desire to become pregnant, if they sincerely remember this mantra or carry it on their bodies, they will give birth to sons and daughters with blessings and wisdom. Those who seek long life will obtain long life. After death, they will be reborn in the Buddha lands of the ten directions according to their wishes. If there is famine in various countries

《善住陀羅尼經》說:如果眾生聽聞此陀羅尼(Dharani,總持、真言),受持、讀誦、修習、憶念,求得大成就,乃至僅僅聽到它的名字,或者用手觸控,或者佩戴在身上,或者僅僅用眼睛看到,或者書寫在經卷上,或者書寫在布帛上,或者書寫在墻壁上,一切眾生如果見到這些,即使是犯了五逆罪、四重罪、誹謗正法、誹謗聖人、從事捕獵屠宰的人,以及盲人、聾人、駝背、瘖啞人、麻風病人、貧窮下賤的人,受到魔網、邪見、惡星的侵害,這些人乃至四生(卵生、胎生、濕生、化生)中的一切眾生,聽到此陀羅尼的名字,必定證得無上菩提(Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi,無上正等正覺)。如果將此陀羅尼書寫在衣服中,或者放置在幢上,以及牌板上,乃至聽到聲音、用手觸控,以及影子照到其身,轉而又觸及到其他人,必定不退轉于無上菩提。

【English Translation】 English version: May plagues, famines, wars, and banditry be quelled. Write this divine Dharani (神咒) on the four gates of the city and on the stupa banners, so that the people of the country may welcome, prostrate, revere, and make offerings. All calamities will be extinguished, the wind and rain will be timely, the five grains will be abundant, the people will be peaceful and happy, and disasters will not arise. Even if evil stars and various calamities appear, they will all be extinguished in the place where this Dharani exists. Within twelve yojanas (由旬, ancient Indian unit of distance) will become a bounded area, and all evil omens will not be able to enter. Therefore, the Tathagata (如來, 'Thus Gone One', an epithet of the Buddha) proclaimed this Dharani. You and all future practitioners, do not doubt or regret this Dharani's heart. If such a good man cannot attain supernatural powers with the body born of his parents, then the Tathagatas of the ten directions are speaking falsely.

The Root Dharani of the Great Treasure Pavilion

Namo Sarva Tathagatānām Om Vipula Garbhe Mani Prabhe Tathāgata Nirdeśane Mani Mani Suprabhe Vimala Sāgare Āṃ Gambhīre Hūṃ Hūṃ Jvala Jvala Bodhi Vyavalokite Dhāra Dhāra Varā Vajre Āṃ Garbhe Svāhā

The Sutra of the Well-Dwelling Dharani says: If there are sentient beings who hear this Dharani, receive, uphold, recite, practice, and remember it, seeking great accomplishment, even just hearing its name, or touching it with their hands, or wearing it on their body, or merely seeing it with their eyes, or writing it on sutra scrolls, or writing it on silk cloth, or writing it on walls, if all sentient beings see these, even those who have committed the five heinous crimes, the four grave offenses, slandered the True Dharma, slandered the sages, engaged in hunting and butchering, as well as the blind, deaf, hunchbacked, mute, lepers, the poor and lowly, those harmed by the nets of demons, evil views, and evil stars, these people and even all sentient beings in the four forms of birth (oviparous, viviparous, moisture-born, and metamorphic), upon hearing the name of this Dharani, will definitely attain Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (無上菩提, unsurpassed complete enlightenment). If this Dharani is written in clothing, or placed on banners, and on plaques, even hearing the sound, touching it with the hand, and its shadow falling on their body, and then touching others, they will definitely not regress from Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi.


提。能于現世獲眾功德遠離諸罪。于諸世間皆得敬愛。於一切處皆得供養。一切國王王子宰官後宮。並諸眷屬皆得歡喜。離於貧窮不受世苦。毒藥刀杖水火等難。諸惡獸等不能為害。離諸怖畏無一切病。臨命終時心不散動。一切諸佛現前安慰。臥安覺安乃至夢中見百千佛剎。及見諸佛菩薩圍繞。一切諸魔不能障礙。一切冤家不得其便。增長善根獲。無量福。何況久能持誦其福不可校量。又不假時日不限齋戒。常于清旦誦一百八遍。所求之事皆得成就。

大寶樓閣心咒

若此心咒誦十萬遍。即見一切如來。誦二十萬遍。得見一切佛土。若誦三十萬遍。得成一切曼荼羅。一切真言法悉得成就。乃至若誦一百萬遍。得一切如來灌頂佛地。與一切如來同會。若造五逆罪誹謗聖人誹謗正法。應入阿鼻地獄者。誦咒一千遍。所作罪業悉皆消滅。得不退位悟宿命智得六根清凈。兼獲世間種種事業隨意成就。

大寶樓閣隨心咒

若誦隨心咒滿一萬遍。所有神鬼作障礙者。悉來接足禮拜白言。持明者救護我等勿斷我命。所使我者決定得了我皆成就。乃至誦十萬遍。得見一切如來。彼等如來作是言。善男子汝欲所往諸佛剎土。皆得隨意無有障

【現代漢語翻譯】 提:如果能夠于現世獲得眾多功德,遠離各種罪惡,在所有世間都能得到敬愛,在任何地方都能得到供養,一切國王、王子、宰官、後宮,以及他們的眷屬都會感到歡喜。遠離貧窮,不受世間疾苦,毒藥、刀杖、水火等災難,各種惡獸都不能造成傷害。遠離各種怖畏,沒有一切疾病,臨命終時內心不會散亂,一切諸佛會顯現在面前安慰。睡臥安穩,醒來也安穩,甚至在夢中能見到百千佛剎,以及見到諸佛菩薩圍繞。一切諸魔不能障礙,一切冤家不能得逞,增長善根,獲得無量福報。更何況長久能夠持誦,其福報不可估量。而且不需限定時間,不限制齋戒,常常在清晨誦一百零八遍,所求之事都能得到成就。

大寶樓閣心咒

唵 麻禰末𠷌呤(二合) 吽

如果此心咒誦十萬遍,就能見到一切如來(Tathagata)。誦二十萬遍,就能得見一切佛土(Buddha-kshetra)。如果誦三十萬遍,就能成就一切曼荼羅(Mandala),一切真言法都能成就。乃至如果誦一百萬遍,就能得到一切如來灌頂,到達佛地,與一切如來同會。如果造了五逆罪,誹謗聖人,誹謗正法,應當墮入阿鼻地獄的人,誦咒一千遍,所作的罪業全部消滅,得到不退轉位,領悟宿命智,得到六根清凈,兼獲世間種種事業,隨意成就。

大寶樓閣隨心咒

唵 么禰[口*捺]哩吽發

如果誦隨心咒滿一萬遍,所有神鬼製造障礙者,都會前來接足禮拜,稟告說:『持明者(Vidyadhara),救護我們,不要斷絕我們的性命。您所差遣我們的事情,必定能夠完成。』乃至誦十萬遍,就能得見一切如來。那些如來會這樣說:『善男子,你想要前往的各個佛剎,都能隨意到達,沒有障礙。』

【English Translation】 提: If one can acquire numerous merits in this present life, stay away from all sins, be respected and loved in all worlds, and receive offerings everywhere, all kings, princes, ministers, harems, and their families will be delighted. One will be free from poverty and worldly suffering, and disasters such as poison, swords, staffs, water, and fire, as well as all kinds of evil beasts, will not be able to harm them. One will be free from all fears, without any illnesses, and at the time of death, their mind will not be scattered. All Buddhas will appear before them to comfort them. One will sleep peacefully, wake up peacefully, and even see hundreds of thousands of Buddha-ksetras (Buddha-fields) in dreams, as well as Buddhas and Bodhisattvas surrounding them. All demons will not be able to obstruct them, and all enemies will not be able to take advantage of them, increasing good roots and obtaining immeasurable blessings. Moreover, if one can recite it for a long time, the blessings are immeasurable. Furthermore, there is no need to limit the time, nor restrict fasting, and if one often recites it one hundred and eight times in the early morning, all that is sought will be achieved.

The Great Treasure Pavilion Heart Mantra

Om Mani Vajri Hum

If this heart mantra is recited one hundred thousand times, one will see all the Tathagatas (Thus Come Ones). If recited two hundred thousand times, one will see all Buddha-ksetras (Buddha-fields). If recited three hundred thousand times, one will accomplish all Mandalas (sacred diagrams), and all mantra practices will be accomplished. Even if recited one million times, one will receive the abhiseka (anointing) of all Tathagatas, attain the Buddha-bhumi (Buddha-ground), and be in the same assembly as all Tathagatas. If one has committed the five rebellious acts, slandered the saints, and slandered the Dharma, and should enter the Avici Hell, by reciting the mantra one thousand times, all the sins committed will be extinguished, one will attain the state of non-retrogression, realize the knowledge of past lives, and attain purity of the six senses, as well as achieve various worldly affairs at will.

If the Follow-Heart Mantra is recited ten thousand times, all the gods and ghosts who create obstacles will come to greet one's feet, prostrate, and say: 'Vidyadhara (Holder of Knowledge), protect us, do not cut off our lives. Whatever you command us to do, we will definitely accomplish.' Even if recited one hundred thousand times, one will see all the Tathagatas. Those Tathagatas will say: 'Good man, you can go to any Buddha-ksetra you wish, without any obstacles.'

Wherever they are born, they will obtain a male body, possess all faculties, deeply believe in cause and effect, be skilled in all arts, be adept at understanding various treatises, be fond of giving alms, be weary of abandoning all desires, not create evil karma, be free from all dangers and fears, possess right mindfulness and wisdom, be loved and respected by the masses, always be close to good friends, constantly hear the right Dharma (teachings), and never abandon the mind of Bodhi (enlightenment) even for a moment. They adorn themselves with all kinds of merits, possess good precepts, fear all evil deeds, are always without lack, are tamed and gentle, and love tranquility. In the heavens and among humans, they constantly enjoy happiness and quickly attain Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (unsurpassed, complete and perfect enlightenment), and will never regress from the ten perfections to the other shore.' The 'Buddha's Crown Radiating Immaculate Light, the Dhāraṇī of the Heart of All Tathāgatas' Sutra states: This Dhāraṇī is proclaimed in unison by ninety-nine hundred thousand koṭis nayutas of Ganges sand (殑伽沙) number of Tathāgatas. If there are sentient beings who see, hear, and rejoice in it, all the karmic offenses of the three times, which would cause them to fall into hells, evil destinies, and even the realm of animals, will all be destroyed. If this mantra is written and placed in a stupa, it is as if the entire body relics of each of the ninety-nine hundred thousand koṭis nayutas of Ganges sand number of Tathāgatas are placed in the stupa without any difference. If one has reverence for this stupa, all past karma leading to a short life will be eliminated, and one's lifespan will be increased, with the devas protecting them. When this person's life ends and they leave this body, they will be reborn in the Land of Bliss. If one recites it once, it is the same as planting roots of goodness and obtaining great blessings in the presence of those ten Ganges sand number of Tathāgatas. The five heinous offenses will all be extinguished, and all karmic obstacles in hells, the animal realm, and Yama's realm (焰魔羅界) will be liberated. One will also obtain longevity, and upon the end of their life, they will be born in the Land of Bliss. Furthermore, if one focuses and recites it, chronic sores and ulcers will be healed, and all desired things will be obtained. If someone hears the sound of the recitation, all their karmic obstacles will be liberated, and the sound of the recitation touching animals and insects will liberate all paths of karma. If one digs up bones from a graveyard and chants over the sand twenty-one times, scattering it over the bones, the consciousness of the deceased, wherever it has fallen into hell, will be liberated and born in the heavens of the Sugatas. If one recites it hundreds of thousands of times, at the time of death, being bound by Yama's (焰魔王) messengers with a rope around the neck and dragged into Yama's realm, all the hells within that realm will be destroyed, causing fear to arise, and they will be immediately released and allowed to return, for that practitioner is a messenger of the Dharma King, abiding in the path of meditative concentration without doubt, and will be reborn in the Land of Bliss according to their wish.

Oṃ bhrūṃ svāhā

The Uṣṇīṣa Vijaya Dhāraṇī Sūtra says: This mantra can destroy all the sufferings of hells, the realm of Yama (the King of Death), and the animal realm, leading beings back to the path of goodness. This mantra is inconceivable and possesses great divine power. If someone hears it even once, all the evil karma created in past lives will be completely eradicated, and they will attain a pure and wonderful body. Wherever they are born, whether in Buddha-lands or among the heavens, they will remember and retain it without forgetting. If a person wishes to remember this mantra in its entirety for even a short time, they will also gain increased lifespan, purity of body, speech, and mind, and be free from suffering. They will receive peace and security according to their blessings. Furthermore, they will be gazed upon by all the Tathāgatas, constantly attended by all the gods, respected by people, and have their evil obstacles eliminated. All Bodhisattvas will protect them. They can freely enter the pure lands of all Buddhas and the heavenly palaces, and the profound practices and vows of all Bodhisattvas will be accessible to them without hindrance. After abandoning this body, they will be reborn in various wonderful Buddha-lands.

The Six-Syllable Great Bright Mantra of Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva

Oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ

The Karaṇḍavyūha Sūtra says: This six-syllable great bright mantra is the subtle original mind of Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva. If a person recites this mantra, during the recitation, ninety koṭis of Ganges River sands worth of Tathāgatas, countless Bodhisattvas, gods, dragons, yakshas, and space deities will come to protect them. Seven generations of their lineage will be liberated, and the insects in their stomach will attain the position of non-retreating Bodhisattvas. Furthermore, if one recites it according to the Dharma, that person will obtain endless eloquence, a collection of pure wisdom, and great compassion. Daily, they will fully possess the complete merits of the six pāramitās (generosity, morality, patience, diligence, concentration, and wisdom). The breath that comes from that person's mouth, when it touches the bodies of others, will cause those who are touched to develop loving-kindness and be free from all anger and poison. They will attain the position of non-retreating Bodhisattvas and quickly realize Anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi (unexcelled perfect enlightenment). If one wears and carries this mantra, they will be the same as the Vajra body of the Tathāgata. If they touch the bodies of others with their hand, those who are touched and all sentient beings who see them.


皆速得入菩薩之位。而永不受生老病死愛別離苦。又如滿四大洲男女等人。一切皆得七地菩薩之位。彼菩薩眾所有功德。與念此咒一遍功德而無有異。若人書寫此六字大明陀羅尼。則同書寫八萬四千法藏而無有異。若人以天金寶造作。如微塵數如來形像。不如書寫此六字中一字功德。若有得此六字大明。是人貪嗔癡毒不能染著。其有戴持在身中者。是人亦不染著貪嗔癡病。

【English Translation】 English version: All will quickly enter the position of Bodhisattva and will never suffer the pain of birth, old age, sickness, death, and separation from loved ones. Furthermore, if all men and women in the four major continents were to attain the position of the Seventh Ground Bodhisattva, the merits possessed by those Bodhisattvas would be no different from the merit of reciting this mantra once. If someone writes this Six-Syllable Great Bright Dharani (Six-Syllable Great Bright Mantra), it is the same as writing the eighty-four thousand Dharma treasures. If someone uses heavenly gold and jewels to create images of Tathagatas as numerous as dust particles, it is not as meritorious as writing one word of this six-syllable mantra. If someone obtains this Six-Syllable Great Bright Mantra, that person will not be tainted by the poisons of greed, hatred, and delusion. Those who wear it on their body will also not be tainted by the diseases of greed, hatred, and delusion.

Manjusri Bodhisattva Five-Syllable Heart Mantra: Arapacana (阿啰缽拶捺)

The Victorious Appearance of the Five-Syllable True Word in the Vajra Peak Sutra says: If someone recites it once, it is like reciting the eighty-four thousand twelve Vedas. If recited twice, Manjusri Bodhisattva (文殊菩薩) and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva (普賢菩薩) will follow and bless them, and Dharma-protecting deities will be in front of that person. Furthermore, if good men and good women can uphold this true word, reciting it only once, they will enter the equality of all Dharmas of the Tathagata, and all words will also be equal, quickly achieving Maha Prajna (摩訶般若). Furthermore, if recited once, it can eliminate all the suffering of the practitioner. If recited twice, it can eliminate the heavy sins of countless kalpas of birth and death. If recited three times, Samadhi (三昧) will appear. If recited four times, total retention will not be forgotten. If recited five times, one will quickly achieve unsurpassed Bodhi. If someone is alone in a quiet place, writes the five-syllable wheel altar in Sanskrit, and recites it according to the Dharma for a full month, Manjusri Bodhisattva will appear in person, or expound the Dharma essentials in the air. At this time, the practitioner will obtain the wisdom of past lives, unimpeded eloquence, supernatural powers, and the fulfillment of supreme vows, possessing both blessings and wisdom, and will quickly be able to realize the Dharma body of the Tathagata. As long as one believes and accepts it in their heart, they will definitely achieve perfect enlightenment after sixteen lifetimes (the wheel-character contemplation gate is received by the clothing master).

The 'Guanyin Dharani Sutra' says: If one wishes to recite this mantra, all past and present four grave offenses, five rebellious acts, slandering the Vaipulya sutras, and the sin of being an Icchantika (one who has cut off all roots of goodness) will be completely eradicated without any remainder. The body and mind will be light and agile, and wisdom will be bright and clear. Whether in body or speech, one will be able to benefit and bring joy to all sentient beings. If there are sentient beings who widely commit all the sins of Avici hell and other such offenses, if they can encounter the shadow of a mantra-holder momentarily reflected on their body, or suddenly converse with the mantra-holder, or hear the mantra-holder's voice, this person's karmic obstacles will all be eliminated. Furthermore, if one wishes to benefit all sentient beings, every time it rains, raise great compassion, look up to the sky, and recite the mantra twenty-one times. All sentient beings touched by the raindrops will have all their evil karma and heavy sins extinguished, and all will obtain benefit and joy.

The Bhaisajyaguru (Medicine Buddha) Mantra

Na mo mo e gan ding, po zhe chi lu, po [Ning*ge] (intimate) leng ye (two combined), bu la (two combined) mo la (yin) cha (yin) ye, da da (yin) e da (yin) ye, a la, he (two combined) ding, sa mie san mo na (yin) ye da nie da (yin) ong, po zhe po zhe, mo he (yin) po zhe po zhe la (yin) cha sa mu e ding, suo (yin) he (yin).

The 'Bhaisajyaguru Seven Buddha Sutra of Merit and Virtue' says: When Bhaisajyaguru Vaidurya Prabhasa Tathagata (Medicine Buddha of Lapis Lazuli Light) attained Bodhi, due to the power of his original vows, he observed that all sentient beings encounter various illnesses and sufferings, such as emaciation, malaria, wasting, jaundice, and other diseases, or are harmed by bewitchment and poisonous spells, or have short lifespans, or encounter untimely death. In order to eliminate these illnesses and sufferings and fulfill their wishes, he proclaimed this mantra in the light.


陀羅尼。若見男子女人有病苦者。應當一心為彼病人清凈澡漱。或食或藥或無蟲水。咒一百八遍。與彼服食。所有病苦應皆消滅。若有所求至心念誦。皆得如意無病延年。命終之後生彼世界。得不退轉乃至菩提。

【English Translation】 English version Dharani. If you see men or women suffering from illness, you should wholeheartedly bathe that patient cleanly, or give them food, medicine, or water without insects, chanting this mantra one hundred and eight times for them to take. All their suffering should be eliminated. If they have any requests, sincerely recite this mantra, and all their wishes will be fulfilled, they will be free from illness, and their lives will be prolonged. After death, they will be reborn in that world, attain non-retrogression, and even attain Bodhi (enlightenment).

The Root Mantra of Amitabha Buddha (Amitabha Buddha, Buddha of Infinite Light)

Namo ratna trayaya, namah arya amita-bhaya, tathagataya arhate samyak-sambuddhaya, tadyatha, om amrite amritodbhave, amrita sambhave, amrita garbhe, amrita siddhi, amrita teje, amrita vikrante, amrita vi-kranta gamini, amrita gagana kirti kare, amrita dundubhi svare, sarva artha sadhani, sarva karma klesa nihani, svaha. The 'Recitation Ritual of the Infinite Life Thus Come One' says: 'If this dharani is recited just once, it will eradicate the ten evils, four heavy offenses, and five heinous crimes from the body. All karmic obstacles will be completely eliminated. If a Bhikshu (monk) or Bhikshuni (nun) has committed a fundamental transgression, after reciting it seven times, they will immediately regain the purity of their precepts. Upon completing ten thousand recitations, one will obtain the merit of never forgetting the Bodhi mind.'

【English Translation】 English version: Cultivating the Mind of Awakening. The Samādhi Bodhicitta (the mind of awakening manifested through meditation) appears within the body, radiant and clear like a pure moon. At the moment of death, one sees Amitābha Tathāgata (Amitabha Buddha), surrounded by countless kotis (hundreds of millions) of Bodhisattvas, who come to welcome the practitioner and comfort their body and mind. Then, one is born into the Land of Ultimate Bliss, attaining the position of a Bodhisattva through the highest level of rebirth.

Amitābha Buddha Heart Mantra: Oṃ amṛta tejas hara hūṃ

Reciting it 100,000 times, one will see Amitābha Buddha.

One-Syllable Mantra of Amitābha Buddha (according to various teachers, adding Oṃ Amitābha and Svāhā is also acceptable): Hrīḥ

The Commentary on the Meaning of Prajñā in the Sutra of Great Bliss Vajra Samādhi states: The syllable Hrīḥ contains four letters, forming a single true mantra. The letter Ha signifies that the cause of all dharmas is unattainable. The letter Ra signifies that all dharmas are free from defilement. Defilement refers to the five dusts, also known as the two kinds of attachments: the object of grasping and the grasper. The letter Ī signifies unattainable freedom. The two dots represent the meaning of the letter A, which signifies Nirvāṇa. Because one awakens to the fact that all dharmas are originally unborn, both kinds of attachments are abandoned, and one attains the purity of the Dharmadhātu (realm of reality). The syllable Hrīḥ also means shame. If one possesses shame, would one commit any unwholesome deeds? One possesses all faultless wholesome dharmas. Therefore, the Lotus Family is also called the Dharma Family. Through the blessing of this syllable, the water birds and trees in the Land of Ultimate Bliss all proclaim the Dharma, as described in the extensive sutras. If a person holds this one-syllable mantra, they can eliminate disasters and illnesses. After death, they will be born in the Land of Bliss and attain the highest level of rebirth. This mantra, which is universally practiced by those who cultivate the Avalokiteśvara (Guanyin) heart mantra, can also assist those of other lineages who practice yoga.

《決定光明王如來經》說:如果眾生能夠見到此陀羅尼,或者聽到它的名號,以至誠之心書寫、受持、讀誦、供養、禮拜,短壽之人也能增長壽命,活到百歲。如果有人自己書寫,或者教別人書寫,死後不會墮入地獄、餓鬼、畜生道,也不會進入閻羅王的管轄範圍和業報冥官之處,永遠不會在這些惡道中遭受惡報。書寫此咒,就等同於書寫八萬四千法藏,等同於修建八萬四千寶塔。如果有犯下五無間地獄之業的人,由於書寫此咒的功德力,其業障都能夠消除。臨命終時,九十九俱胝(億)的佛會顯現在他面前迎接他,往生到那些佛的國土中。書寫此咒,將來永遠不會再受女身。四天王等會在暗中衛護此人。如果聽到此咒,永遠不會再受飛鳥、四足動物、多足動物等身,能夠迅速成就無上菩提。當時,世尊說了以下偈頌:

The 'Determining Light King Tathagata Sutra' says: If sentient beings can see this Dharani or hear its name, and with utmost sincerity write, uphold, recite, make offerings to, and prostrate before it, those with short lifespans will have their lives extended to a full hundred years. If someone writes it themselves or teaches others to write it, they will not fall into the hells, the realms of hungry ghosts, or the animal realm after death. They will not enter the jurisdiction of King Yama or the netherworld officials of karma, and will never suffer evil retribution in these evil paths. Writing this mantra is equivalent to writing the eighty-four thousand Dharma treasures and building eighty-four thousand precious stupas. If someone has committed the karma of the five unpardonable offenses leading to the Avici Hell, by the power of the merit of writing this mantra, their karmic obstacles will be eliminated. When approaching the end of their life, ninety-nine 'koti' (hundreds of millions) of Buddhas will appear before them to welcome them, and they will be reborn in those Buddhas' lands. Writing this mantra ensures that one will never again be born in a female body. The Four Heavenly Kings will protect this person in secret. Hearing this mantra ensures that one will never again be born as a bird, a four-legged animal, or a multi-legged creature, and one will quickly attain unsurpassed Bodhi. At that time, the World Honored One spoke the following 'gatha' (verse):

If one enters the chamber of great compassion, And their ear momentarily hears this Dharani, Even if the six 'paramitas' (perfections: generosity, morality, patience, diligence, concentration, wisdom) are not yet perfected, That person will quickly attain the state of a teacher of gods and humans.

If one hears this mantra two, three, or seven times, passing through the ear, one will immediately eliminate all karmic obstacles. If sentient beings have committed the ten evils, five heinous crimes, and four grave offenses, as numerous as dust particles filling this world, and after the body breaks and life ends, they fall into various evil paths, one can use this mantra to bless earth and sand one hundred and eight times, scattering it on the remains of the deceased, or scattering it on the tomb or stupa. Then, the deceased, if in hell, the realm of hungry ghosts, the Asura realm, or the animal realm, by the power of this mantra's blessing, will immediately obtain light and a body, eliminate all karmic retributions, abandon the suffering body, and be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, transforming in a lotus flower until becoming a Buddha, never falling again. Furthermore, if there are sentient beings who suffer from weakness, yellow complexion, and various illnesses for years, this is due to past karmic retributions. One can use this mantra in front of the sick person for one, two, or three days, reciting this mantra loudly one thousand eight hundred times each day, and the karmic diseases will be eliminated. If one is disturbed by ghosts, the soul is confused, and one loses the ability to speak, the mantra holder can bless their hand one hundred and eight times, rub the patient's head and face, and press the hand on the heart and forehead, blessing it one thousand and eighty times, and the illness will be cured. If the illness is caused by various ghosts and spirits, one can bless a five-colored thread with one hundred and eight knots, tying it around the patient's waist, arms, and neck, or bless the clothes, and the illness will be cured.'

The Merit and Virtue of the Rosary

The rosary (prayer beads) is a wonderful method for recording thoughts and the initial foundation for accumulating merit. Those who hold it achieve virtue, and those who wear it eliminate defilements. There is nothing in the world or beyond that does not come from this. Therefore, I will now briefly explain its appearance according to the scriptures. However, according to the 'Vajratopayogamālā Tantra Rosary Sutra':
