Xiao Zhuangyan Temple

Liang Xiao Zhuangyan Temple is located in Dingyin Lane, Jianye (present-day Nanjing). It was originally the site of the temple of Prince Lingling of Jin (referring to Sima Yue). In the sixth year of the Tianjian era (507 AD), Duchaanshi began its construction. At that time, there was a man named Shao Wenli, whose family had been engaged in slaughtering livestock for generations. He once wanted to kill a deer, but the deer knelt down and shed tears, which he considered an ominous sign. This deer was pregnant with a fawn and was about to give birth. It cried mournfully in the kitchen and was slaughtered and disemboweled together. As a result, Shao Wenli became seriously ill, his eyebrows and beard fell out, and his body was covered with sores. Later, he deeply repented and sought the Buddhist path. Duchaanshi made a great vow, using all his family wealth to buy back this land and build a Sangharama (monastery).

Tongtai Temple

Emperor Wu of Liang changed the reign title to Datong and built Tongtai Temple. The temple was located inside the Taicheng (palace city). He exhausted the national treasury to build a seven-story Great Buddha Pavilion, which was later destroyed by fire. Emperor Wu sacrificed himself and donated wealth to pray for the blessings of the Buddha. Since the Datong era, no year has been peaceful.

Xingguo Chan Temple

In the thirteenth year of the Tianjian era (514 AD), Emperor Wu of Liang used 200,000 coins to buy Dulong Hill in front of Dinglin Temple to bury Zhigong (Zen Master Baozhi). Princess Yongding used her bathing expenses to build a five-story stupa (pagoda) on it. In the fourteenth year, Kaisan Temple was built in front of the pagoda.

Shengyuan Temple

Shengyuan Temple is also known as Waguan Temple. It is located in the western corner of the city, facing the Yangtze River. Behind it is a high hill, which is an ancient site. It has been through many wars and has hardly left any traces. During the reign of King Li, Shengyuan Pavilion was still there, which was a relic of the Liang Dynasty.

Da'aijing Temple

Built in the first year of the Putong era by Emperor Wu of Liang, it is located on the North Peak of Jiang Mountain (Zhong Mountain).

Fabao Temple

Fabao Temple is half of the foundation of Tongtai Temple. According to the 'Jiankang Temple Records', Emperor Wu of Liang founded Tongtai Temple in the first year of the Datong era. The temple was located behind the palace, and a special gate was opened, called Datong Gate. The emperor often entered and exited this gate for morning and evening lectures and discussions.
